Poop Stained Panties

We are working on potty training and going poop on the potty is hard for us for some reason. Once the poop is in the panties they get rinsed out right away, but how do you prevent the poop stains? I have tried shout and oxy clean on them and neither has worked so far.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you. I don't care if they are stained when we are at home, but I don't want to send my child to school with poop stained panties for the teacher to see or for them to leave in their cubby.

When my kids had accidents, I couldn't muster up the strength to clean poop out of panties. Yuck! Thankfully, we had very little poop accidents while potty training. But when we did, they went in the trash. And now every once in a while, I'll see a pair of kid undies that make their way to my laundry that have a pretty big skid mark, they get tossed. It just grosses me out.

It's a stain, not that big of a deal. Who see's it? Does it really matter? They are little. kids end up with stains and skid marks. Unless you hold stock in Hanes it could get mighty expensive to throw them out.

I used to work in an animal hospital - I got pooped on, peed on, puked on, and bled on pretty much every day.
That's where I learned to use hydrogen peroxide to remove stains from bodily fluids.
Keep it in an opaque spray bottle in the laundry room. It's light sensitive, which is why it's sold in brown bottles.
Spray it on the stain, let it bubble, and wash in COLD water. Hot water sets stains from body fluids.
If the panties have already been through the dryer, the stain may be permanently set.

I'd toss them in the trash. It would not be worth my time and energy.

Life is short. Throw them away.

I know that sounds wasteful, but it's just not worth your time. You clean them the best you can, and if they are not going to come clean, toss 'em.

I have never tried this with panties, but when I used cloth diapers I used to bleach them in the sun if they were stained. Just turn them inside out and leave them in direct sunlight for and hour or two, after they are washed, of course.

This might be wasteful, but once a pair of undies gets poopy in our house, it goes in the trash. Not something I'm messing with!

If they won't come out, I would throw them out.

When the kids or if I help them wipe, I've always told them to aim for
brown, brown, tan, tan, white. The more you wipe (you can use wipes
so they don't chafe & put them in the trash) the cleaner the bum
becomes. ;)

Oh I thought this thread was about the new Miley Cyrus album. I think that's the name of it....

I agree with the idea of throwing them out. Life's too short.

If you prefer to be thrifty, cut out the stained area and sew in a patch.

ETA: Maybe try tie dye? "Leopard print"? "Camo"?

Fels Naptha laundry bar. Wet the cloth and then rub the bar on the stain until the soap is thoroughly worked into the stain. Wash in cold water as usual.

It even works on most set in stains. I love it.

How long do you soak? For tough stains, saturate the stain with your Shout or Oxy and let it sit for at least 24 hours before washing. Most stains come up if you give the stain remover enough time to work.

urgh!! the hard part of potty training!!

My boys wore "tighty whitey's" so I bleached their undies. It only happened a few times.

I would let them soak longer or just toss and get more panties.

Sorry!!

Oxyclean laundry stain remover (the spray bottle, not the regular powder) pretreat overnight. Or if you have some outside space, sunlight might work.

My youngest son had this problem. I used to make a bucket of hot soapy water use dishwasher soap the dry stuff not liquid. Soak the underwear in that it helps with the stains.

Hot water, quality detergent, and bleach. They should come clean and be clean enough to be worn in public.

How do you use the oxy? When I have stained underwear, or even other clothes, if it still comes out stained after using a Zota bar and wash, I get it soaking wet, put oxy right on it, sprinkle a little water on top and let it sit a day or so. Always comes out. I have a 22 month old, a 5 yr old and 3 teens. I do not like stained clothes. Usually everything comes out. Cannot afford to buy new all the time.
