Pondering Third Pregnancy

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone else experienced fewer symptoms with their third pregnancy and/or got negetive pregnancy test results. I am almost seven days late on my period and the tests keep coming up negetive. I do not really have many symptoms. My breasts are a little more tender then they usually are around the time of my period, I am bloated, and have really painful gas. I am going to give it a few more days and if nothing changes I am going to see my Midwife. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this in the early stages of their pregnancy.

What can I do next?

Your note struck a chord with me. Last October I was CONVINCED I was pregnant. We had been trying and I had ALL of the very typical early pregnancy symptoms. After spending a fortune on tests, all of which came up negative, I gave up and figured I was not pregnant. My husband and I kept "trying" for the remainder of that cycle. The following month I tested myself about 2-3 days before my period should have come (we were going to NYC for a wedding and I wanted to know)... Lo and behold, I got a positive result. At the first meeting with my midwife, she immediately sent me for an early sonogram to date the pregnancy to determine which month it happened. I have two older children, both born naturally at 37 weeks, so we wanted to be SURE of the "due date", so that there was no confusion of me having a baby at 33 weeks instead of 37 weeks. Anyway, it was a November pregnancy, not an October pregnancy, and my midwife believes that perhaps it actually was a pregnancy in October that didn't "stick". She said it is not unusual, but that typically first time moms wouldn't be as in tune with their symptoms as a third or fourth time mom is (like you and I). So... my advice is 1)talk to your midwife, then 2)keep on trying! :)

Hi,

I am pregnant with my third and I also thought it was very odd in the beginning that I didn't have any symptoms except hunger. It took a few months but all those old symptoms you know and love came back for me at least. My doctor said this was completely normal, every preg. is different and this one has been COMPLETELY different for me. Good luck to you!

Have a blood test done. That should give you the real result. My first pregnancy was the best. Third was fine because i was a pro by that time!!

WIth my third pregnancy, I took a pregnancy test within a week of missing my period, and got a negative result. It took over a week after that to get a positive. Those things are definitely not reliable as early as they say they are. Wait a bit, then take the test again.

Hi M.,

I'm 29 weeks pg with #2, I have a 15 mo old daughter. I didn't even take a pregnancy test until I was a good 8 weeks into the pregnancy (not on purpose). I didn't even have my first appt until I was 13 weeks (my dr is pretty busy and couldn't fit me in until a month after I found out). The month before becoming pg, i took a test and it came back neg and got my period after. I just rode this one out for a while longer. The only reason I took the test was because I got the whole morning sickness and nausea. My periods are irregular to begin with so missing a month wasn't uncommon. BTW, when I did take the test, I got a very very faint positive, but the instructions said anything faint meant you were pg. Wait a few days and take the test again or see your midwife. Good luck!
