I am currently a 36 HH, and I am having a hard time finding a good nursing bra (I am due in 5 1/2 weeks) Does anyone have any ideas of a place that sells plus sized nursing bras. I have order a few online only to get them and they do not fit. Any help would be great !!!!

What can I do next?

I second the Nordstrom suggestion. I used to work in the lingerie department there and they have great fitters. Not cheap obviously, but hey you get what you pay for. Quality!

T.,

I purchase mine from Figleaves: http://www.figleaves.com/

They have the large sizes, like mine 36H and they also have reviews, which help a lot when going to purchase a bra.

Congrats!

There are 2 custom bra shops in the area that I know of, not sure of the names but one is in Berwyn and the other is in Lisle(I hear the selection is better in Lisle but the staff is CRANKY!). I'm not all that well endowed (I'm just a big girl) But after a while I just found it easier to use my regular bras and pull out over top. the snaps and buckles took too much time! Once the leakage stopped I pretty much went bra-less at home. Congrats and good luck!

First, you are NOT plus-sized! You're just large-chested ;) Don't just get sports bras, they are totally unsupportive unless you get the right size.
I'm a 32FF. I get my nursing bras from:
breakoutbras.com - you're a great size for Fancee Free bras that go up to something like a 44K.: http://breakoutbras.stores.yahoo.net/fanceefree1.html
biggerbras.com
figleaves.com
herroom.com
barenecessities.com

Stay away from the "normal" brands you see in stores.
I also love the Freya nursing bra. You can get it from the above stores or here are some stores in Chicago that carry Freya bras which I love and come in bigger sizes:

This is the cute new nursing bra they have right now, it comes in even bigger than HH :)

Schwartz's on Skokie Blvd, just north of Old Orchard, on the Skokie/Wilmette border is my go to for bras. I'm currently in a 40G nursing bra from there. May not be the prettiest bra you'll wear, but they'll make sure it fits and is very supportive! Good luck!

I also had a very difficult time finding a good bra because I'm sort of an unusual size. My regular size is a 32D but I was a 32F after I had my baby. However they do get smaller after you nurse for awhile :) What ended up working for me was going to Nordstrom and having them measure me. The ladies there are so helpful. Of course, the bras are not inexpensive but they hold up really well. I can't remember exactly what brand I ended up buying but I was very pleased with them. Good luck!

I went to a shop in Berwyn called Central Foundations, it's right on Cermak with a bright blue awning. They are so nice there. It's a super old fashioned store, there aren't any racks of bras to chose from. Basically you go in and tell them what you need, and they give it to you. They take a measurement of your ribcage and give you a few selections to try on. I never mentioned my cup size and the salesgirl was spot on. I went there for a strapless bra for my wedding because I couldn't find one in the regular stores that didn't have padding. I went back for nursing bras because I was so pleased the first time. When I finally go back to regular bras I will probably just go there for all of my bras! The nursing bras ran $40 each, and if something happens and they stretch out they will fix it for you for free. I really can't say enough good things about this store. I only wish they would stay open later in the day, I think they close at 5 or 6pm. For me, I have to try on a bra before I buy it, because you just never know the fit from brand to brand, or even style to style within a brand. If you order from a catalog or a website be sure they have a good return policy. Also, I'd just like to point out that the sleeping bras someone mentioned are useless in my opinion. Large breasts need support, and they do not give any, you might as well wear nothing. Good luck, and congrats on the baby!

The "sleep bras" are the best, I think. They cross a little in the front so you can easily pull a side down. You will shrink some too as time goes on ;)

I wore sleep bras for the first 6 weeks or so and tucked in a towel or burp cloth too for leakage. It doesn't give a TON of support, but enough so you aren't open to the air (which made me leak more!) and they are comfy.

I wear one from Walmart from Bestform brand. It's a DDD though I am likely larger. It has LOTS of give and I don't get that muffin-top or spill out when I bend over. It has very thick shoulder straps though, which are okay for support but kind of stink for wearing shirts with scooped necks or tank tops because they stick out. They have white and gray and NO underwire, but a nice comfy thick band that doesn't ride up. I have had VERY few plugged ducts with this type bra versus a really expensive nursing bra with underwire that I bought from lingerie shop with my first baby.

Also, I was serious when I said you would shrink. About day 3 you will be so huge and hard when your milk comes in you will think you are Dolly Parton, but then it does go down and they way you carry your "weight" in your chest will change too. The best thing is to go try on bras as you change (and take breast pads with you so you don't soak them all!)

Congrats!!! If you have any issues with nursing, don't hesitate to contact me. It can be a little trickier sometimes when your boobs are bigger than the baby itself! Ha! ;) But hang in there, it does get easier, and don't worry about the baby suffocating against your boobs either- those cute little baby noses that all look the same? They are shaped that way to take in air against us while nursing. Isn't that awesome??

Hugs!!!

I stopped measuring when I grew past an F cup...at that point I just used sports bras. I found some reasonably priced Champion brand at Target. They have a knitted chest band instead of a casing and I found it much more comfortable.

Gopd luck, you're probably going to be getting a little bigger when your milk comes in.

Hi,
Last week I found the best nursing bra of my life from a company called Anita. They're a German company and my cup size surprised me at 34 F. I think my success came from going into this bra shop and being fitted properly. If you haven't already done so and can, I highly suggest it.
As far as nursing bras go- I think Anitas are amazing- they're really comfortable, attractive and well made.

Good luck, I know how important having the right nursing bra is!
