Hi ladies,

I just thought maybe I could get some advice from other plus size women. Im 31 weeks pregnant and Im so tired of people asking me if there is 2 in there. My husband is real supportive and he tells me im beautiful a million times a day but I just feel so fat!! Im aggervated so easily. I have pcos so that is one of the reasons for my weight gain. I have only gained 3lbs I have been controling it with diet and excerise. But when I look in the mirror I know im bigger. None of my clothes fit. I hate going to labor and delivery because what ever is wrong is always because of my weight. Which makes me feel like well we can't find anything else lets go with the obvious. Im high risk so I can't excerise. I can walk but that's limited and that about it. I just wanna be able to relate to someone else.

Thanks

What can I do next?

I wasn't plus size when I got pregnant with twins, but I got my share of rude comments about my large size at the end of my pregnancy. At work, a man actually commented on the size of my belly in passing. I shot back with "haven't you ever seen a woman pregnant with twins?!" He never said anything again.

My advice is take care of yourself and don't be so sweet when people make rude comments.
If you can't think of anything to say, you could say, "Wow, no one has ever asked me that before. That's so rude!"

From about the time I was 6 or so months along, I got that question constantly. People would actually argue with me!!! They would say, "are you sure!?!" Yes, stupid woman, I'm pretty sure there is just one in there!!! My problem was that I am all of about 5 foot two. I have no torso. That big ole' kid of mine had nowhere to go but OUT!!! I also am not what you would call skinny. On the contrary!!! In short, there is really nothing you can do about people. You cant control their mouths. What you are expieriencing falls in the catagory of the "blue hairs" in Wal-Mart that refer to your daughter as a boy and vice-versa. I think in general, people arent trying to be rude. If you are anything like me (Queen of sarcasm) you will learn to make lil' smarty-pants responses back to them. If you do in in just the right way, they wont get what you said to them until long after your gone.
Ex. My daughter looks nothing like me...I have had MANY women ask me if she is my "natural" child!! I find that to be the rudest thing I've ever heard!!! I look at them as serious as I can, and say,"no, she adopted...I convince myself that she is mine until someone reminds me shes not" (add a sad face, and voila!!!) The way I see it...they deserve it....maybe they will think about asking that question to the next person. The point is...what if she wasnt my "natural" child. It isnt any of their beezwax anyway!!!
So, I wouldnt worry about it if I were you. Who gives a poop what these people think or say!!!All that matters is what YOU think about YOU!!!
Congrats on the baby!!!
Margaret :)

I can't give advice on being plus size, though I know how it feels to gain weight that you can't control and can't exercise off.

I want to tell you that the people who ask you if you've got more than one in there have their own serious issues to face, one of which is being incredibly rude! How funny if you were to call them on it, like just ignoring them or getting quiet and giving them the "Are you really that stupid?" look when they say something stupid. Just keep looking at them and let them talk their way into a deeper hole. Then, take the power back from them by stating, "No, I have a condition that makes me fat and the exercise that might help with that part would hurt my baby, so my husband and I have chosen to be safe and take good care of our baby and not worry that others find me physically unappealing."

Have yourself a Julia Sugarbaker moment.

First of all, kudos to you for eating right and only gaining a limited amount of weight. That's awesome!

I know what it is like to feel ginormous and pregnant, and not being able to really exercise due to having a high risk pregnancy. Hang in there, you don't have much longer to go!

I wish I had an answer for you on the dumb comments, maybe get a shirt that says "Yes I'm sure it's not twins!". Some people have no verbal filter, and spout off with whatever idiotic thing that pops into their head.

When I became pregnant I was plus size, although I don't remember any of those comments. (Maybe I ignored them.) I also didn't gain that much, partly because I was sick the whole pregnancy.

I'm sorry your feeling so down about yourself, I think no matter what we weigh we will always be critical of how we look. We have good days and bad days. I can't believe people are so insensitive... although I shouldn't be surprised, I've been asked if I was pregnant when I wasn't and that was just horrible!

I recently lost 33 lbs, and I didn't exercise much at all. I've been doing Weight Watchers online (i'm not even going to meetings.) The thing I love about weight watchers is there is no special food. I can eat whatever I want as long as I stay within the plan. It forces you to change how you eat and make good food choices, so it's not a diet. Anyway I thought you may want to check it out. (After the baby comes of course!!)

I'm sure once you have the baby, you will feel much better. Just hang in there until your beautiful bundle of joy decides to make his/her appearance!

You are beautiful just the way you are!!!!

Pregnancy makes our hormones go crazy girl, you know that. This is your third baby!! They make you feel fat, bloated, grumpy, happy, sad, emotional, irate, I could go on and on. You are beautiful to your husband because he knows there is a life growing inside you. How awesome is that!!!! A life is in there moving around and making you miserable and guys find that hot for some reason!!! If you are high risk, then let people ask if your having twins. Heck mess with them and say no triplets!!! lol!!

I probably have not helped you any, but mabye I shed some humor into a situation that you are frustrated with!! Have a great day!!
