I loved my OB/GYN Dr. Bradley, but he passed away suddenly a couple of years ago. I went to another doctor in his office last year for my yearly PAP test, but I didn't really care for my experience with him. He was younger than I expected, and I felt a little uncomfortable. He asked me if I planned on having any more children. I told him that I would like to, but my husband did not want any more. He immediately started telling me about a PERMANENT birth control that I could have done quickly in the office. I was in no way ready to discuss such an option (since I still want more children), and was almost brought to tears at the thought of a permanent birth control. So, he may be a wonderful doctor, but the experience made me a bit uncomfortable, and I would like to find another doctor that I feel is a better fit for me. I would like someone who is not rushed...someone who takes time to listen to what you are saying and who cares. I need to make an appointment soon, as my bc pills run out this week, and they generally won't refill them unless you have an appt. for your yearly checkup. Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much for your help! I may try the Women's Health Specialists that was first suggested and see how that works out. I did consider Dr. McKnight (he goes to my church), but kind of wanted someone who delivered too (just in case :>). And thanks for the other suggestions too. I am keeping the information on them in case I need them.

I go to Dr. Moss with Women's Health Specialists. There are four doctors in the office and they are all great!! Their number is ###-###-####. They are located on Bell St next to the hospital.

R., I have to speak up here and say that Dr. McKnight is in the same group and I have been seeing him for the past 18+ years. He delivered my 18 year old and my 2-1/2 year old. He did retire from delivering before my little girl was born 7 months ago, but I still go to him for my yearly exams and everything else "woman" related. Dr. Greg Taylor delivered my little girl, and even though we butted heads at first we eventually came to terms and he ended up being an awesome Dr.
I am thru having children, but those are my recommendations. I wish you luck and hope that you find someone that you are comfortable with.

I don't have any personal experience with this doctor as I need to find one for myself, but I've heard that Dr. Riley at Stone Crest in Smyrna is a nice doctor. My neighbor works with him and uses him as her doctor. He also does VBAC's, which is rather uncommon to find these days. You could always set up a consultation appointment with him, or any other OB, to just meet them and talk about the things you are looking for in a patient/OB relationship. That is a good way to break the ice before having an actual exam. I hope you find someone that is a good fit for you. I do understand as that is a very personal and intimate kind of doctor visit, so having a good relationship with them is very important.

That is such a sexist response from your doctor. He listened to what you husband's wishes were around more children and he did not listen to your wishes. What an interesting reaction not to listen to the wishes of the patient sitting in your office. I don't know any doctors in Murfreesboro so I am not going to be much help. But I do know a great OBGYN at Vanderbilt if you don't find one in Murfreesboro. He delivered all four of my babies including the last one that was a high risk pregnancy. My sister in law is a neanatal intensive care nurse and she recommended him to me.
