My husband did research which included a lengthy stop at consumer reports.org..........we ended up with a Levana and found it on Amazon.com for $159. Been happy with it too. I can see my daughter anywhere I am in the house and hear her as well. I can let it run constantly or turn on the VOX so that the monitor comes on when she stirs or makes noise. It has an intercom on it so my husband and I can talk to each other if we need too. Plays music and the lights on the camera blink if you want to entertain the baby.

I liked our Summer Day and Night Color Handheld for the picture clarity, but had way too much interference in our home to get sound on it. It didn't matter to us because we used our Angel Care monitor as a sound monitor, even after we stopped using it as a motion sensor. I HIGHLY recommend the Angel Care monitor, simply for peace of mind. We have since purchased the Summer Multiview (Slim and Secure?) and like that one too. Video and sound work great on that one. Good luck!

Fisher Price Model M5578/M5579
I got it at Wal-Mart for about $22. The base which you leave in the room has an option of leaving a very low night lite on & the hand held part you take around with you works great.I remember I used to take the hand held part outside with me to get the mail & it still worked about 3000ft away. They also have the same unit at Target..no matter where you look it's about the same price, except Babies R Us was expensive.Good luck to you!
