OK ladies, I want to buy my daughter a kitchen for her 2nd bday. I'm willing to spend up to 250, if it's a truly solid, wood product. I'm toying with buying her the Little Tikes Deluxe Kitchen and Laundry center (my daughter loves playing with my laundry basement)..Other options include Kidkraft Let's Cook Kitchen...I'm also interested in Guidecraft's Complete kitchen center.

I want something solid, made of wood if possible. We have limited space, but I want something that will really spark her imagination that has good storage space for play foods, etc.

What kitchen do you love and why?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Just purchased the LIttle Tikes Wooden Play kitchen and Laundry center. I got a great price on it from Meijer.

I did a lot of research and we got my 2 year old son the Kidkraft Let's Cook kitchen for Christmas. It's great quality, very heavy and solid. He loves playing with it. I highly recommend it!

I actually found a wood kitchen set at a garage sale. It is a fridge and sink - 2 separate pieces. Both of my children love it, and play with it all the time. You may want to check out Ebay, cause you can get some really good deals, and good, clean items for less cost. I also got my daughter a dollhouse on Ebay, and it is like brand new, and only cost $10 compared to $100 in the store.

Melissa & Doug has a bunch of different wooden kitchen toys. They have a wooden kitchen and wooden play food. We don't have the kitchen, but we have some of the play food...cutting food, slice & bake cookie set, and the birthday cake set. They are so cute!! If we had the money to get her a wooden kitchen, I would definitely go with the Melissa & Doug brand.

Here is their kitchen & play food page:

We have a plastic Little Tykes kitchen set that is plastic, yet AMAZING. It folds in half for easy storage, to take up less space...as in the sink area folds towards the laundry area. It has "talking" features which include sizzling food, saying 'yum' and recognizing which plastic food is cooking in the pan!

We were able to buy more "food" that works with the set from Little Tykes at Christmas time.

It has a washer, dryer, cook top, phone, microwave, iron and ironing board, sink and foods...many make real sounds or talk.

It's a big hit with all the kids who come over. I highly recommend it.

I bought my daughter a Step 2 Lifestyle Custom kitchen from Walmart for 79.99 and then ordered the keypads for the microwave from Step 2 for $18.00 instead of using the sticker decals. She absolutely loves it. It is not wood but it has plenty of storage space and she plays with it everyday.

I just got my daughter the Pink Retro Kitchen at Target. I didn't get the fridge, just the stove/oven/sink unit and she LOVES it. I may add the fidge to it for her next b-day but the part that she has now is great.
