Hi Moms - Any ideas? Any proven techniques for me? I need some advice for getting play-doh out of carpet, jeans and shirts. My concern for today is just denim. My son was kneeling in the stuff on the floor (we usually do play-doh on the table). Thanks in advance! You all are the best!

What can I do next?

You can also take an ice cube to make it cold and hard and it will peel right off. Then use a stain remover to clean it up. As another mom wrote Sol-U-Mel works great.
We had the same problem in the carpet and it was during the summer so it got very soft. We just took an ice cube and rubbed it in the spot and rolled it off the carpet and then used the stain remover to finish the job. Never knew it was there.

Goo Gone. It's orange oil based. From the squirt bottle, not the open bottle it's easier to work with. I found it at Target in the cleaning supply section. Follow the directions, don't over use it otherwise it is oily and slimy which also needs to be absorbed and cleaned up. Dab don't smush the playdough and keep working on it. We got silly putty out of plush pile carpet recently. I have grown to love this stuff, it's amazing how often I need to get something sticky off something. Yesterday it was a sticker on a window, I'm a mom so, tomorrow who knows.

If it's chunks, put it in the freezer to make it hard and it shoud peel off pretty easily. Then you can try remedies for the discoloration. Once it becomes stiff and brittle, you can take the edge of a spoon and scrape most of it off. Then try a stain remover.

Playdoh if it is still damp comes off my daughters clothing most easily with cold water and that seems to help reduce any staining as well.

You might want to get a large plastic mat to put under / around the table when doing play-doh (like ones they use under office chairs or something similar, we play on a table over the wood floor - no carpet). It makes clean up much easier.

I've always had good luck with Dawn dishwashing liquid. Seems to break it up so it can be washed away. As for carpet, remove what you can, let the rest dry. Then, brush briskly and vacuum at the same time. Good luck!

Sol-U-mel- use it on tough stains on clothing, like I do for stains on carpet.
BTW- the freezer suggestion below works wonders for candle wax! Just freeze, and it will chip right off of anything! ;)
