I am 8 weeks pregnant and have been bleeding since we got pregnant. Doctor says that there is a tear on the placenta. We had just miscarried before this pregnancy. (A week before to be exact.) Just seeking advice from other who have had this problem and hopefully hear some success stories to provide hope and promise.... Thank you!

What can I do next?

I have had two miscarriages since August 2006, one in August and one in February and I am now pregnant again. I was bleeding for the previous two but am not bleeding with this one. I would like to know if you are still having a baby and if there is success to tell.

I had bleeding with my second pregnancy, they told me at the hospital I would prob. miscarry. Thankfully my doc. told me not to worry. I was on bed rest for a few days on and off, and it went away. My son is 5 now and he was over 8lbs when he was born!! Also, I was told that you should rest around the time you would usually have your period. Hope this helps. Best of luck with everything!!

Be optimistic! I am currently 31 weeks pg and had bleeding for the first 4 months. They really didn't know why but attributed it toward a placental tear. I had a previous miscarriage so it was difficult to "wait and see". Between pregnancies I had a healthy baby girl in August 2005 where I had no bleeding. I'm hoping for a wonderful outcome!

Hi S. I have never heard of that but if you stay in bed will the bleeding stop then. Or when you get up and walk around does it bleed more. I'm sorry I don't have the right words for you.

I fully agree with Laura H. I had the same problems with my first daughter, nearly exactly. I had actually miscarried right before we became pregnant with my first daughter. Then about 3 months in I began bleeding and it got heavier and heavier, as a first time mom I believed the many women who said it was possible that I was simply having my period even though I was pregnant (I guess it happens to a lot of women.). Well I had been bleeding for about 3 days and then suddenly I just fainted. My husband ran me to the hospital and they told me that apparently there was a rip in the placenta. So I quit my job and went on bed rest for a couple weeks and it all suddenly got better. I now have a healthy, beautiful 4 year old. I know it can be really scary and us women can be pretty stubborn, but seriously bed rest is the best thing you can do for your baby. Good Luck and Congratulations!

I have the same problem you are having right now and I am now almost 7 months with my second. All my doctor told me was to take it easy and I have been on bedrest most of this pregnacy to try to correct this problem. The doctor might decide to put you on hospital bedrest when you get more far along

I started this with my last pregnancy at 13 weeks. The bleeding started out so severe that I ended up in the hospital. They were ready to do a DNC on the spot, but they did an ultrasound and the baby was still alive and moving around like nothing was wrong. They told me I would probbly lose it in the next few days. Then it was if you make it to 20 weeks it'll be a miracle. Then they said I could relax a little after 24 weeks. At that point I wasn't bleeding all the time, but I still had days where it looked like I was hemmoraging. After that all of the blood that had collected in my uterus that had not come out solidified into a giant clot. So then they told me the baby was going to be early because it was going to run out of room to grow and when that happened they were going to have to take it. They were getting me ready for the NICU and all the things that were going to go wrong. Well guess what? I ended up getting enduced because I made it to my due date and she was getting too big! So it is possible to make it! Good luck!

Hi there S.!

I had sort of the same thing go on with my last pregnancy. There was bleeding from the placenta that they could see, but, they were unsure of where it was coming from. The bleeding was pretty significant. I was about 6-7 weeks along. I, of course, ran straight to the hospital(first time pregnant) and was given a Rx for pain meds and told to go home and wait for 'it' to happen. Luckily it never happened( I didn't bother getting the Rx filled either) and I gave birth to my beautiful daughter on 07-18-06.

Just take it easy and REST! I really hope it works out for the best for you! Take care - Les

Just be careful. Bed rest will help and taking it easy. My best friend just lost her little girl from placenta eruption. She was 9 months to the day when this happend. They have no idea where or when the tear happend. I'm glad to hear that the doc's found this right away. Please try to take it easy. I know what my friends are going through right now aftor lossing their little girl.

I also bleeded the first 5 months. It was awful!! I was told I was going to miscarry so I decided to quit my job and stay in bed and it was the best decision ever! I am now 8 months pregnant and I'm due on Valentine's day. I was also told last month that my placenta was low and was probably going to need a c -section and they believe that was the reason I was bleeding in the begining. But Thank god now the placenta has moved up and I'm going to have to endure long hours of child birth yeah!!! Before my 5 year old daughter I did miscarry and it was awful one month later I got pregnant again with my daughter and I almost lost her too because I was bleeding but once again I quit my job and stayed home and she made it through this time. God Bless and I will keep you in my prayers.
