Well johnson and johnson baby shampoo. It temporarily relieves the ink eye but you still have to have the doctor prescribe an antibiotic. Good luck!

If she will let you, a Q-tip soaked with hot water and scrubbed along the inside bottom lid and the lashes along the top help to rid the follicles of crusted mucus. This makes the ordeal last less time. Pink Eye is a "bad cold" in the eyes and is caused from rubbing on the nose and then touching the eyes. It can be a miserable experience for the person going through it, though.

Not cold packs. Use warm compresses and then call the doc. Make sure there is nothing in the eye, allergies, or maybe a scratch. WHen you say pain I think of a scratch on the surface. Good luck!

If it doesn't go away go see the eye dr definitely....
A warm wash cloth will wipe away the icky wet stuff and the crusty stuff.
This is what I've done for myself. Good luck!

my daughter went through this last week. The dr said she had bacterial pink eye. he gave us a rx for Erythromycin. its a cream that needs to be applied to the lower eye lid. the eyes need to be closed for 2min. which 2min to a 4yr old is a life time, to mine anyways. The dr the paper gave us said to use cold wash cloth on her eye. It helps numb any pain and keeps the swelling down. However my dad gets this once a year and he uses a warm water bottle on his eye. I say what ever makes the kid happy. Thankfuly we never had to use the cream, it cleared up on its on with in hours.

Hopefully, you've gotten to the doctor by now for medicated eye drops. Nobody likes Pink Eye.

Warm wash cloth compresses on the eyes always makes them feel better. It also loosens any "goop" and it wipes away more easily. Now that you have the drops, though, it should be fine in a couple of days.

i know you can't get them at midnight...but you need the medicated eye drops...the pink eye will clear in a day or two...they are prescription...so you'll have to either go to the doctor, or try the minute clinic...(at cvs..which, by the way, might be open at midnight?)

Chamomile Tea is great for it..just wash the eye with it.

I've cured pink eye on our own with colloidal silver in the eye, but it needs to be less than 20ppm. Of course that's if it is viral, which is highly contagious. If's it bacterial (not contagious), then you'll need an antibiotic more than likely.

I took my 1.5 year old to a naturopathic doc for pink eye and we treated it with green tea bags. Put the tea bag in hot water for around 10-20 seconds then once it is cool enough place it on his eye lid and try squeezing some into his eye by dripping it in the corner near his nose.

I've always heard that (believe it or not) breast milk in the eye is the fastest cure for pink eye. It sounds crazy but it's actually true. When I was still nursing my daughter I tried it when my son came down with it one morning and by the next day he was fine.

I'm assuming you're NOT nursing so I would suggest WARM compresses (not cold) and sterile saline drops or rinse. Are you positive it's pink eye? There could be something inside the eye. I would get him checked out by a pediatrician. I never take chances with anything involving the eyes.

There's a great article here on the Dr. Sears website:

Best advice I ever got from a nurse...wash/rinse the eye out with Johnson's baby shampoo (no more tears). My son had it once and I had it once in the last 10 years. Used that trick OFTEN (like every hour or two) and we had relief of discomfort right after using, plus the pink eye was gone part way through the second day. Much better than prescription ointments!

Pink eye comes about from a decrease immune system. I would take her to a chiropractor and get her on a good multivit, plus add some extra vit.c. If you do happen to have some breastmilk, it works great too! Its a natural antiboitic.

A tea bag, as wet and heated, as hot as your think your kid can handle it. My grandma use to do it for me when I got pink eye and I have used it on my son. Something about the antioxidants in the tea. Best of luck!

Hi Rhonda.
If you have any Johnsons's no tears baby shampoo, putting that on a warm rag and as a compress will help with the eyelid closed. Hope it gets better soon.
