Pick Out Kitchen Appliances

We have all the stainless GE Profile appliances (side-by-side fridge/freezer with water/ice, gas range with convention/convection oven, microwave oven, and dishwasher) and love, love, love them. We first had them in our condo downtown, and when our second house was being built we chose to take an 'appliance credit' from our builder so we could get the same exact appliances.

i'm extremely happy w/the reliability of my Amana fridge on top, freezer on bottom that I purchased in 2001...if I had to do it again, I'd get the french door one that has the freezer drawer cause then stuff doesn't get lost in the back of the freezer.oh and Stainless is VERY high mtc if you have kiddos i would go w/one of the newer smudgeless or faux stainless finishes

for stove, I bought dual fuel Dacor 30" which is nice cause it has the convection option w/the ease of the electric oven but the quick cook of the gas stovetop....those are the two I have purchased in the last 10 yrs or so. bought em at Abt. I bought a stainless exhaust fan too, but that is Still Not Yet installed, cause stuff needs re-routing. If you are buying more than one piece they give discounts.

We bought a Kenmore side by side refrigerator. Kenmore is the high-end of Whirlpool. I like it b/c of the water/ice dispenser in the freezer door, but if I had to do it again, I might buy one w/ the fridge on the top & the freezer drawer on the bottom b/c I do think those are just plain bigger inside. Note the true stainless steel is not magnetic, and comes w/ black on the sides. The brushed stainless is magnetic & doesn't get fingerprints, but I personally like the "real" stainless look better. We also got a Whirlpool dishwasher...we ordered it from a picture as the store didn't have it in stock. I recommend making very sure you like how it is arranged inside. We like ours well enough, it's very quiet, but the silverware holder is a little too narrow so we can't fit in as much as we'd like. Good luck! I know buying appliances is nerve-wracking!

When we renovated our house, I did lots of research for the kitchen appliances. (Consumer Reports scored GE profile very, very high too) I got all of my appliances in GE profile and the dishwasher in Bosch. It's only been 2 years so I can't tell you about the long term, but so far no problems. Good Luck, I know how nerve-wracking it can me!

Hi Maureen...just saw this one! I have GE Profile oven, washer and dryer. Would not get another GE washer and dryer. They were rated high by Consumer Reports. Too many problems - same thing breaking over and over. As far as the oven, the only problem I had with that was when I did a self cleaning, the enamel inside the oven along the wall where the racks slide in started coming off. I had to really complain, but had the oven replaced. I would however recommend LG products. They have been very good for me - refrigerator and TV. Whatever you do - get the titanium, not stainless steel. You will regret the stainless steel - it's not so stainless! Hope this helps!
