Hello,
One of my girlfriends is interested in getting her 4 year old son piano lessons. He seems to be really bright and mature for his age, he also loves the keyboard as well as any other musical instrument. Is 4 too early? Does anyone have a good reference for a great child piano teacher?

Hi B.,
There is a great place called the Suzuki Institute that specializes in a method for teaching young ones (3 yrs +) violin, cello, piano, etc.
We have started taking my 3 1/2 yr old there and it is amazing what these kids can accomplish when started so early with something they have an interest for.
Check out www.suzukidallas.com for info on their teaching method, classes, etc.
There are many instructors under one roof that offer private lessons as well as group lessons.
Good Luck!
S.

My daughter started piano lessons at 4 yrs. old and has done absolutely wonderful. She is now 6 yrs old. I played the piano for 5 yrs when I was 10 yrs old, so I wasn't sure if 4 was too young. But my daughter wanted to play the piano, so we gave it a try and glad that we did. Her piano teacher lives in Plano off of Preston/Plano Pkwy and charges only $7 for a half hour session. She might go up to $10 this May, but that is an unbeatable price. Rachel is an experienced pianist of over 5 yrs and a violionist for over 5 yrs. She is 15 yrs old and works great with kids. She will also work around your schedule b/c she is homeschooled. I will need to look up her number and email address for you. If you are interested, you can email me at ____@____.com

Hi, Yes!!! A very good friend of mine has been teaching for many years and is amazing( their entire family is very musical and play different instruments besides piano!)! Her name is Lynda Morrison ###-###-#### and we have known each other for 16 years. Our husbands are on Staff together at Custer Road United Methodist Church here in Plano. My hubby is the Student Minister and her hubby is the Music Minister. Lynda is the Children's Choirs Director at our church as well. Lynda will be able to address your friend's child's age and starting piano! I hope that helps! Blessings, J.

Hi,B.
This is I.. I have been teaching on and off all ages since 1994. The earliest I had was a girl (5 1/2 years old). I don't think 4 is too young especially if the kid is very interested in playing. I have developed my own program and made my own visual aids to help the kids to get engaged in the learning process. Give you friend my number ###-###-####) and I will talk to her.

Where are you located? I can give you the name of a friend of mine who gives lessons in The Colony. I will tell you that 4 is absolutely not too young. I have been playing since I was 3, and it has done nothing but benefit me. You will be so glad you did this.
