I have seen people do special effects to their pics and would love to know how to do it. Any suggestions for photo editing software or websites that will let you do this would be appreciated.

TIA

picnik and photoscape are free, but to do some things you have to upgrade which costs about $25 a year for picnic. I use it and love it.

here are some picnik tutorials I have written:

picasa is one of the best for just simple touchups, and it's free, downloadable (get it from cnet.com) and it uploads pics automatically so you don't have to do it one at a time, just work on the photo and export it to a photo folder.

adobe photoshop is the best, though a little pricey, but will pay off in the end, especially if you want the photos to be printed, and there are a lot of tutorials. gimp is like photoshop, free a little more spotty, but also still a lot of tutorials out there, though not as many as photoshop. I believe most photoshop brushes and stamps will work with gimp.

Adobe Photoshop. I have CS5, but my favorite program is Elements.

If you go to their website you can do a free trial version of photoshop / elements/ etc.

Photoshop is the best! If you go that route, I would suggest looking up tutorials online. There are SO many tutorials out there! You can start by searching for tutorials on basics and go on from there. It can be a bit to navigate at first, if you don't have any experience with graphics, or editing software. It's well worth the time learning though.

My SO is a wonder when it comes to photoshop, self taught however if you are not good at playing around and figuring it out there are plenty of places to go to get info/classes on using it casually like you would be.
