My friend was telling me about a pet store that does birthday parties for kids. they can play with the animals and have a party room. Anyone know of a pet store that does this? My daughter turns 3 this month and she would love it.

What can I do next?

Look into the spca. they do not have party rooms, but they do offer tours, then you could go do pizza or something afterwards. Once I saw an article about a girl that had her bday party there and asked all the kids, instead of presents, to bring donations to the kennel. Now, I know the present part is rare...but maybe they could bring small item to donate in addition to a present. I think there is a list of items needed on the website.

My husband and I are Clowns and we performed at a place called Tailwaggers Inn in Van Alstyne. They board animals and they also have a party room.

You can call the owner, Susan Dennis at ###-###-#### to find out the details.

I would tend to agree that I would personally wait to do a party like that.....my primary reason, though, is because of the possiblity of allergies that may not yet be identified (for kids that don't have pets in their families).

But, I do agree with Jennifer that perhaps, at that age, it would be much for the animals who may bite or scratch because of being overly-handled.

Goodl luck with your decision.

I would suggest Petland in Lewisville (near Vista Ridge Mall)
http://www.petland.com/FindPetlandStores/Texas/Lewisville...

We've never been to a birthday party there, but they always have lots of animals and my kids love visiting. We also did a pre-school field trip there.

The trained staff is very knowledgeable about which animals are appropriate for which ages. For the young kids, they brought out things like turtles, snakes, bunnies, guinea pigs, etc. The kids sat in a circle, and instructions were given for each animal they brought out (some they were aloud to hold, others were held by staff and kids got to pet them).

I think this is a wonderful idea - something the kids will be sure to remember!

Good Luck!

Please don't take the judgement thing personally. But I would like to suggest researching the practises of Petland first and make your own decision. I personally could never support their business.

And be aware many of these shops are being protested so there is the risk of having to see that upon entering if you were to have it on the weekend, but if you do go that route it could be a possiblity.

Hey petland in Lincoln square in Arlington does this. They have a party room set up at the back ad it's decorated really nice. I haven't priced it but wedo go weekly with my 4 and 2 year old to play with all the animals. The staff is so great and friendly with the kids and they let them play with the animals. My youngest was excited because they helped her hold a parrot on her arm. Love that place!! Good luck with the party.

Also... As I was reading the responses you have had I can pretty much guarantee that there will not be protesters at the Petland in Arlington, We have been many times on Saturdays and Sundays and have nothing but praise about them. There store is always clean and there cages are well maintained.
