We had the same issue when neighbors moved out of the apartment above us. The apartment's pest control did not seem to get rid of them. When we moved we hired Truly Nolan pest control. They come out and bait the outlets and light switches. They also treat the outside of the house. It took us about 6 months to get rid of what we moved with us but we are on a plan that treats the home every 3 months and it seems to have worked. You're right, they do like the warmth of electronics. You just need several months of thourogh pest control. Good luck.

We use a completely people, child and pet friendly pest control item called Diatomaceous Earth (DE). It is a food-grade form of Fossil Shell Flour that kills any hard shelled critters physically, not chemically. The ground fossil shells are microscopic razors to the insects and cut through their shells and cause them to dessicate/dehydrate. It comes in a bag of the powder, just like baby powder and you dust your carpets, 'puff' behind all cabinets, under cabinetry, around pipe openings, along the outside and inside of windows...anywhere they could be living or getting in. Shortly you will be pest free! The only precaution is to make sure you don't get the powder/dust into your lungs when treating the house, yard, etc so it's recommeded to wear a dust-mask when dusting. The stuff is safe and sworks awesome, and is cheap! I bought mine at dirtworks.com and spent about $16 and have enough to last me years! You only need a few ounces to treat an entire home/yard!

Oh - I should add that this can safely be used on pets to control or rid them of fleas or ticks. Safer and cheaper than those pesticide topicals that are really toxic!
Best Wishes!

Hey J.,
I'm sorry to respond so late, but I pulled my back out and have been down for awhile. I would call Ron @ American Pest Services. He is the best and very reasonable. He can dust inside the walls and such to get rid of them and it keeps them from coming back.

Good Luck,
K.

Boric Acid is toxic! With small children you want to be careful where you put any boric acid mixture. We used boric Acid with jelly, spoon it onto a small piece of paper or put it into a straw my husband sucked it half way into the straw and cut the empty half off and threw it away. Then cut the other half of the straw into small pieces and put it in a place where children can not get at it. Inside outlets and behind electonics has to be good. Also you could try some of those baits that they sell at the grocery store, they contain the poison. Good Luck!

Call your maintenance they (hopefully) should offer pest control. We were having problems with roaches and the pesticide guy came out and soon as he saw that I had a son, he put the sprayer away and reached for something that looked like a caulk gun. He put a sticky bait out on the baseboards and on the drawers, etc, completely safe! The roaches carry it back to their family and friends and within 2 weeks they were gone! During the two weeks if we saw a roach he told us to leave it alone so they could carry the bait back to the other guys. After two weeks we didn't see any!
Good luck!

Oh such a drag!! We had a problem 2 years ago with those smaller german(?) roaches taking over in our kitchen...it seems that they are attracted to warmth(around the fridge/oven)and moisture(under the sink) and maybe thats why they are attracted to the electronics- due to the heat they produce. Here a couple of suggestions....unplug those items for a couple of days (seems impossible though, huh?) so that they won't hide where its warm and you could try using the very old-fashioned method that worked for us.......Boric acid!! Its this crazy white powdered substance that you can buy in any drugstore, and it really worked for us(I was very much against spraying chemical pesticides in the house since I was pregnant at the time(I still am against using them, even more now with the baby....icky!!)My grandmother swore by this methos and with persistence it did work!!! GOOD LUCK!

Hi J.~

In the area at the hardware store where they have pest control products, buy boric acid powder. Mix it half and half with sugar. Put some in a bowl and use a spoon to create a line behind and around the item. They are drawn to and eat the sugar and take it to the nest, where it kills them. If they are in cupboards, put an unbroken line all around the inside. Also pour some behind appliances and around pipes in the bathroom. This method is non-toxic, but effective.

Hi,

I personally don't know how to take care of it, but my bug man may. He uses natural pest control, safe for kids and pets.
His name is Mike Hill and the office number is ###-###-####. He is out of Auburndale.
Hope this helps!
