Is there any office around that has separate sick and well rooms for children? I want to limit my newborn's contact with ill children. We live in Pasadena area and are willing to go into LA.

We've been going to Dr. Margaret Zdarzyl in Glendale since my oldest one was born and I now have 8 month old twins, too. She has separate well and sick child rooms. There are even separate toys designated for each room. Yes, all the kids go into the same rooms, but at least they change the paper lining on top of the tables, scale, etc. Her office is in the building behind Verdugo Hills Hospital.

I assumed that all pediatricians had separate rooms for well and sick kids, since my pediatrician did and I'm almost 52. I was never sick so I always wondered what was in the "other" waiting room, lol!

descanso pediatrics in la canada has a separate waiting sick area for kids, but it's not an actual separate room. it's only divided by a 1/2 wall, but at least it's something.

Just a thought.. they all go in to the same exam rooms so they will be exposed no matter what. I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but one of the peds that i had once told me that. SHe had a small office. I used to just wait out in the hallway or outside the office until it was time for my son's appt. and take your own toys and books to amuse the baby when that time comes... lots of germies on the books and toys.

Many pediatricians have separate well and sick entrances. I go to La Peer pediatrics and love them. I know the pediatrician across the hall also has separate entrances. For sick patients, they are ushered directly into the exam room which is on the opposite side of the office from the normal waiting room and other exam rooms. They are located in Beverly Hills around Doheny and Wilshire.

Burbank Pediatrics in Burbank immediately moves newborns into a backroom as soon as they arrive. Dr. Frend and Dr. Boxstein are both great.

did u know you can see a general doc..i have one for me and she also sees children but there are never any in her office..or u can wait outside..and let the front desk know that you are going to wait outside the office and to come get u when they're ready. We go to Dr. Jamie Knauss on Raymond and California..office waiting room is really big.
My general doc is Dr. Ohadi she is in the Burbank area.

Rose City Pediatrics has separate waiting rooms though there is no interior barrier between the rooms. When my kids are there I have a hard time keeping them in the well room.

Glendale Pediatrics does. Close to Pasadena, too.

Hi,
My son's doctor has two separate waiting rooms(actually i think 3, one for newborns) not sure cause this is a new location. Plus my son doesn't go often cause he's 11. Anywho, Dr. Fanselau is located in Arcadia next to Santa Anita Mall. The number is ###-###-####. I hope it helps!

Huntington Medical Foundation Pediatrics, 55 E. California Bl. #200, Pasadena, ###-###-####, has segregated well and sick waiting areas for the kids. For newborns, as soon as you check in, they will let you wait in the examination room rather than wait in the waiting area. The pediatricians (Drs. Peggy and John Legault, Dr. Knauss, Dr. Chapman, Dr. Heller, Dr. Kim, Dr. Salomon, Dr. Fasehau) are all great, but all work part-time to raise their own families, so there may be a chance you won't see your regular doctor for a visit. Even though my son has rotated through all of the doctors with his various colds, the continuity of care is excellent (they use electronic record keeping). The front staff (the technical staff too!) are all very nice but are over busy. I seem to wait on hold whenever I call for an average of 10 minutes. They are instituting online appt making, so this should cut down on the hold time.
