There is Pedia_Group in Oak Park. This practice consists of 3 female doctors. I have been taking my children there for many years. The phone number is ###-###-####. Their names are: Dr. Walker, Dr. Gould, and Dr. Fisher, all very nice people. Call the office and maybe one of them will work out for you.

I don't have a doc but I wanted to comment on your post about the doctors and cry it out. I totally agree with you. You would think it was the only method!! My doctor, unfortunatly, in Evanston has not recommended that. In fact she doesn't even recommend sleep training. At least that is what she said at his 9 month. Good luck finding a doctor!!

I also really don't have a ped to recommend, but want to THANK YOU for being pro attachment parenting and recognizing that crying it out is certainly not the only way to get a baby to sleep! I like my ped, but he is not really pro attachment. I just take from him what I like, and turn a deaf ear to anything else. That being said, I would try contacting, Sweet Pea Yoga studio or Be Bye Baby (a clothing and baby supply store) Both are proponents of Attachment Style Parenting and may be able to give you a recommendation for your area. My daughter is 11 months on Saturday and still nursing and will continue to do so till she lets me know otherwise! Good Luck!

I have a great doctor that I had to work really hard to find. His name is Dr. Robert J. Minkus, and he is in Skokie, very easy to get to, close to Old Orchard Mall. He is very respectful, and treats me as if I am the expert on my children. He always makes me feel comfortable, heard, and taken care of. He is great!

I changed 3 pediatricians until I discovered HOMEFIRST, where I finally found caring, compassionate physicians whose philosophy regarding health & parenting was aligned with my own. All of their (family practice) doctors are pro breastfeeding (prolonged, tandem, etc), as well as pro-attachment parenting. They have several offices, so I'm not sure which one would be closest to you. Another mom already posted their central phone number. I wish you and your little one all the best!

I have found a great doctor right in River Forest. River Forest Pediatrics. Scott Mercola. He is very respectful of my choices, and my kids are getting excellent care from him. He was recommended to me by another attachment parent. (Both of us had gone to Homefirst, but it got to be too much to get to the office. And, yes, Dr. Zumhagen is great, but we found the office to be EXTREMELY disorganized.) With Dr. Mercola, you might not get exactly the advice you are looking for, (that's why we moms are here :) but you WILL get respect, prompt attention when you need it, and some of the best care in this area. He has left Loyola and now is affiliated with West Suburban--another trade-off for me, since Loyola is such an awesome hospital. But I'm counting on Dr. Mercola to keep us OUT of the hospital anyway!!! Please contact me if you need the number. I don't have it right now. Information does not have it, since he moved recently. I guess you could get it from West Suburban. Dr. Mercola's office is between the RF Post Office and the Jewel.

This might be a stretch for you but I went through 3 peds because I found a fantastic one at HomeFirst but my insurance didn't cover them after we changed. So, first I would try HomeFirst, Dr. Zumhagen is wonderful. They are located on 3061 N. Lincoln Ave. just south of Belmont 1-###-###-#### this is their main number for appts. The doctor that I found now is also wonderful Dr. Robert Minkus at 6810 N. McCormick Blvd. in Lincolnwood, ###-###-####. He is far from you but is pro cosleeping, breastfeeding and attachment parenting. He is only big on 2 vacs; HIB and pneumcocal but I have done my research and he understands my position on both. My daughter and I are still a happy nursing couple at 10 months too and I just bought a new Angelpack Mei Tai on sale. I don't look forward to the day when she doesn't want to nurse or be so close to me. Good luck

We love Michael Kyle. Both my children were very early and he never freaked out and completely supported my breastfeeding through that process, which I found to be unusual when talking with others who had preemies. I nursed my daughter until she was 3 and he was very supportive and I'm sure he would assist with tandem nursing. ###-###-####. There are 3 dr's in his practice, 2 women as well if you prefer a woman. I've also found that asking pediatricians for advice on getting them to sleep and other parenting decisions just doesn't work well. They know what to do for sick kids, and they can tell you if something is related to childhood development to a point, but actual parenting is just so personal. Unless you're lucky enough to have the Sears dr's :) I don't know if we ever told our pediatrician that we co-slept, but I know he's commented on how he always sees us wearing our babies and shown appreciation and support for that.

I have to give my recommendation for Drs. Susan Locke
and Robin Uchitelle. They are in River Forest/Oak
Park. (Basically, Harlem and Lake/290.) They were
recommended by my midwives. They are family practice docs so they see patients of all ages. They've seen both of my kids since birth as well as my husband and myselft. We LOVE
them. Worth the 45 minute drive from Oak Lawn!

Pro-bfing, ENCOURAGE delayed/selective vaxing,
co-sleeping, etc. Very helpful when we need advice and
recommendations. They are always more likely to
suggest natural remedies and lifestyle changes FIRST
and medications as a last resort.

NOT thrilled w/ some of the docs they team up to cover
their time off, but LOVE them just the same.

Try Rosa Sook Choi at 6853 North Ave. Her and her partner (I cannot remember his name!) are great and so is the staff!

I agree with the first response with Doc. Kyle. We go to the same practice, but our ped is Dr. Ingrid Liu. She is not a big fan of co-sleeping, but also doesn't believe in the cry it out "method". That said, she will not impose her views either. The address is 6645 W. North Ave and the practice is called the Magic Foundation (when we saw that we took it as a good sign :) ) ###-###-#### They have evening and sat hours. We like her so much we are going to stay with her even though we just moved to Naperville! A long travel time is worth it if the doctor is good. Also, she is a DO and not so hell bent on the AMA way of doing things. They are all pro-breastfeeding and the nurses we have worked with have been competent and compassionate. The receptionist doesn't do the warm and fuzzy, but she starts to open up to you when you've been there a few times. I get the feeling she to likes to see parents and babies who obviously dig each other. Hope this helps in your decision making process. Good luck!
