So What Happened?

His ped. did the vision and hearing check at his 4 year checkup and he did not do so well on the eye exam. I talked to my eye dr. about it and he said to wait till he is closer to starting kindergarten. Just didn't know if there were any good kid eye dr.'s around.

Thanks!

The mom before mentioned letting his eyes be checked by the pedi during a well check. Be careful. My son had his eyes checked at his 4 year checkup and I was told everything was fine. Soon after he started K, the school nurse sent home a note that said he failed his eye exam. Come to find out he has a lazy eye. I don't know of any pedi eye docs in Denton, but just to have eyes checked for vision all you need is a vision center of some sort- an optomotrist or let the school nurse do it if you trust her. If you do need a pedi opthamologist, we love, love, love Dr. George Beauchamp in Grapevine.

Doctor Ragsdale on Locust is good. I also like Dr. Wieblehause. They are both very patient and good with answering kids questions.

Flower Mound Eyecare is awesome. I have a 16yr old and she has had glasses since she was 6. They docs are awesome with kids. Just took my now 6yr old to them because she scrapped her eye when a tree branch hit her in the face. Again, they were awesome with her. I go there myself as well and love the doctors.

OK, I think thats enough bragging about the docs. Seriously, they take all insurance companies and the staff is great as well.

We see Dr. Trusty. He has seen all of my kids, 2,4,5, and 8 as well as myself. I love this practice. He is great with all of my kiddos and maybe more impressive so is all of his office staff. When we come in we all come in. Most places would shudder at the thought, but they don't even flinch. They are all smiles and play with my kids. They are respectful of my time and finances.

I think his regular pediatrician can do that at a well-check. If you really want to have him checked out by a pediatric eye doctor, then I recommend Dr. Eric Packwood with Pedieyes in Fort Worth. My son had a lazy eyelid so we spent lots of time at the doctor's office and Dr. Packwood was always really nice and helpful.
