HI, We're looking for a pediatric dentist for our 3 year old and 1 year old. We want someone who allows a parent to accompany the child during the ENTIRE visit. So far, we haven't had any luck. One who is supportive of extended nursing would be great too. Thanks! We're willing to drive as far as Waco.

What can I do next?

We have seen Dr. Bruce Wiener since my now eleven year old had two teeth. There are actually three Dentist in the office and I really like all of them. I always attend the entire visit with my children and always have. This office has taken the fear out of the dentist. My children never even knew to be afraid. (if only I had been so lucky) My children LOVE to go for cleanings and exams...Give them a try..

We use Pediatric Smiles in Bedford - Dr. Manivera Crone. I can't imagine not being allowed to stay with the kids during the whole visit! We've been going there for 2 years (my kids are 5 and 3), and as far as I can remember, every patient I've seen back there has had a parent with them. My oldest son has also had a couple of cavities, and I stayed with him while they filled them. The only time they asked me to step into another area was the last time we went while they did x-rays, but that's because I'm pregnant.

The only reason we are not still there is he didn't accept the new insurance.

I know it's been 2 years just wondering were you successful in finding a dentist that would allow you in. I have been to Sullivan in Mansfield where you can accompany your child for a cleaning visit but will not allow you in the room if the child has to have some treatment done while sedated. I am wondering is there any pedriatic dentist that would that would allow me in with the child as they do the treatment?

You probably have picked a dentist by now, but just incase. You wil love Dr. Chad Perry ###-###-####. My 4,6 and 8 year old go to him. My youngest went to him at age 3. We took pictures in the chair and everything for her scrapbook. He is great with kids and has a super personality. He also lets them watch movies overhead while he looks at their teeth. He will also explain everything to you. Tell him K. P said hi, if you decide to try him. Oh yes he is located in the HEB area.

I also use Dr. Barkley in Fort Worth, and also love Shiloh (Mr. Childress) as the hygenist. I also have sat with both my boys for the entirety of all their exams and cleanings.

We adore Dr. Randy Barkley on Hulen (between I-20 and I-30) and wouldn't go anywhere else! Dr. Randy is a friend of ours from church and I literally would trust him with my life or my child's life...I trust him beyond explanation. He's an amazing man as is his hygenist. They are fabulous and will let you be as involved as you need to be. Even though you may feel some dread about this, please know that Dr. Randy or some of the other great dentists mentioned here are GREAT at what they can do and will help your child become a great dental patient. Most of them are SO good at what they do as you can see by all the recommendations.

I take my kids to Smiles 4 Kids Dentistry - they have a Colleyville and Sagniaw location. I have been present for everything *except* when sedation dentistry was needed. I really like them and they have very patient friendly policies .. for instance, if my estimate was wrong that they gave me on what I have to pay and what my insurance will pay.. instead of billing me for the extra they wave it.

I don't think they are perfect but I like them. :) Dr.Gober that runs the office sits on the Pediatric dentistry board - so he's 100% by the book.

Fort Worth Pediatric Dentistry is WONDERFUL! I have four children, ages 10, 8, 6 and 4 and they LOVE going to the dentist! They have it set up so perfectly for children, and you can accompany your child throughout their experience. The exam area is very open, with several chairs lined up in a row, but plenty of space, too. There is a small seating area directly in front of each exam chair, with toys and books for the patients and siblings in each area. The kids get to wear cool sunglasses while their teeth are being cleaned and of course get to pick yummy flavors of toothpaste and flouride treatments. If your child needs any dental work done, there are areas to the side where this will be done. There's one chair in an open area, then next to it, a chair in a small room with a glass wall. My 8 year old had a small filling and went in the open room, while my 10 year old was ready to feel a little bigger, so his work was done in the room with the glass wall. I could have accompanied him inside this room, however chose to wait just outside while I was still able to see everything that was being done with him. When their visit is over, the children get to choose a toy to take with them, and also get a balloon, blown with the air-blowing dentistry tool and shaped however they choose. All this being said, the three dentists (Dr. Weiner, Dr. Plocheck, and Dr. Guiatas - 2 women, 1 man) are very knowledgeable, qualified and caring dentists and the overall experience is positive and wonderful for both children and parents. Visit http://www.fwpediatricdentistry.com/ for more information. They are located on John Ryan Drive, across from the hospital and in the same building as Cooks Children Cityview. Good luck, and I hope this helps! Oh, one more thing, Ft. Worth Pediatrics is not an in-network provider; however, they are reasonably priced and will work with your dental insurance.

I second the recommendation to Drs. Sullivan and Wright in Mansfield. I've always been with my child during any procedure. They make going to the dentist so fun, my son loves to go.

I have kids the same age and you and we take them to Dr. Bridget McAnthony in N. fort Worth. My 3 year old son loves her and always wants to go to Dr. Mac. She lets you go back with them and has and are where 3 kids can all be examined at the same time. There are tvs with kid-friendly shows on. They also have sunglasses to weat (due to the bright lights dentists use) and water games to play. I'm not sure what part of FW you are in, but she is in N. Fort Worth near Keller. Dr. Randall Barkley off Hulen is a wonderful dentist and Mr. Childress is a great dental hygienist. I've been able to sit with my 3 year old during his exams/cleanings since we started taking him when he was around 18 months old.

I don't know if you are wanting to drive to Mansfield but there is a great dentist office here. Dr. Deborah Sullivan and Dr. Daniel Wright (partners). They are both awsome dentists. They let the parents go back. They actually have a little waiting are right outside the treatment rooms where the parents can see their kids and their kids know they are there. The kids are way more involved in watching the movie on TV or listening to music on headphones than what is going on. Both my kids have seen both of them (I think we are using Dr. Wright more now) and neither has had any issues with any treatment. I would highly recommend them.

I take my 3 yr old to Dr Stan Preece. Located off Heritage Trace Parkway. He sang songs to her as he looked in her mouth and was very kid friendly...especially small kids. I stayed with both my 3 yr old and my 5 yr old the entire time. I feel it was even encouraged! They also have video games near by so you can keep an eye on one kid while the other is being seen by the Dr. He's a Pediatric Dentist so perfect for you!
