Paranoia After Tubes Being Tied...

I feel a phantom baby moving all the time. Sometimes I wonder if it is the muscles remembering being pregnant. My best friend is pregnant now & I told her that I can feel it each time her baby kicks. I kind of cherish those mystery flutters. Some of the changes from my pregnancy were not so sweet -- so this one thing is oddly precious to me.

Although I've never had my tubes tied, I have felt what you are describing. The Dr told me that it was just muscle spasms and nothing to worry about.

The odds of you getting pregnant after having your tubes tied are 3 or 4 out of 1,000. Not very likely. Other posters have given very credible reasons why you might be having those sensations. God bless you!

They told my daughter that you still have a possibility of getting pg for as long as 7-years after you had your tubes tied. However I think most women who have had a baby some times afterwards,get this feeling that reminds them of when they were first feeling the baby kick or hit. Its probably just a mussle twitch. Kind of like when you eye lids get that twitching.

I also had my tubes tied (cauterized actually) in August of 08 and have also had the fluttery feelings as well as been paranoid that we were pregnant again. We had oops twins on top of my previous set of twins and really could not imagine adding another child (just like you stated)...so, I can sympathize. I also have heard the "horror" stories about becoming pregnant after tubal ligation. I can only hope that the ligation holds and if not then prepare for a VERY LARGE family! (= I hope that my experience at least makes you feel less alone out there! And just think, you COULD be in my shoes - staring down five kids rather than three! LOL

I know exactly how you feel. In the first year after my tubal, if I was more than two weeks late, I went for a pregnancy test. My periods were irregular my whole life, so I had a lot of pregnancy tests in the previous 11 years. After year one, I had a couple of tests, and by year three I was no longer worried. I was pretty sure with all the tests that I wasn't pregnant but I just had to be sure. With all my pregnancies I was best friends with my toilet for a few weeks in the beginning. I never had any of those symptoms after the tubal, and I realize now it was paranoia. It worked great for me for the next 14 years until I had a hysterectomy. Now if I have a child, it will be by a higher power. Good luck. That feeling really does go away with time.

I had the same type of feeling -- for years -- not after having my tubes tied, but after having gallbladder surgery. A friend who is a doctor told me this is very normal, and is caused by "adhesions" forming at the surgery site. This is likely what you are feeling.

I don't have my tubes tied, my hubby had a vascectomy. The reason I am writing though is to tell you that I have had those fluttery feelings from time to time. I have to take a step back and realize that I am not pregnant. I stopped nursing several months ago and have regular periods so I know I'm not preggers. I just wanted to share that I get those kicking sensations too, but I don't know why! (and I do feel paranoid until I get my period because a vascectomy isn't 100% either) Hang in there while you're nursing. After you're done, you'll get monthy assurances that your tubal is effective!
