Hi
I just got my copper iud inserted 2 days ago and initially only had light spotting. This morning I woke up with full blown bleeding with clots and only slight cramping. I haven't had that since my baby was born 8 months ago. I am confused if that is a period or is it from the iud, and if so what natural remedy can I use to stop the bleeding.
thks

What can I do next?

I got the paraguard when my son was about 7 months old, and had a similar experience. Lots of cramping and heavy bleeding for alomost a week. There were small clots, but not large. If you're concerned at all, I would definitely call the nurse.
My periods following the insertion were heavier and more uncomfortable the before, but the last 1-2 were better.
Hang in there! =)

I bled heavier the first year, but not that heavy. Call your Dr -- especially if you develop a fever. I don't think there are any natural remedies for bleeding with paraguard. Good luck.

I have the paraguard too. I had the same thing right after it was put in. I had never had cramps before so the intensity of the cramps was shocking. My doc had warned me that the copper IUD would cause longer heavier periods with stronger cramps so I waited it out. It got better after about 2-3d. It took about a year for the bleeding to lighten up and I still have cramps before I start. If you feel really scared call your doc, that is what they are there for. Otherwise I would tell you it is normal.
good luck!

I do not think this is normal. You should call your doctor immediately to be sure.

I also have a paraguard for over 4 years. The first year I did bleed heavily during my cycles, with some spotting. After insertion I did have bad cramps. If the heavy bleeding continues call your doctor to make sure.
