Pads for Girls.....?

Hey Mammas! My daughter, who is 13, had a little spotting a few months ago and a panty liner did the trick. This week, she finally has her first REAL period. The panty liners are not cutting it, but the pads I use would go from her belly button to the small of her back as she is not yet 5 foot and weighs roughly 80 pounds. I wonder if anyone can share a brand name of a pad that is somewhere in the middle? Thanks Moms, Have a great weekend! tlc

I think the Always light days will do the trick. They also have wings so they will not move when she is active.

The "Always" brand has different sizes. They have the Ultras that are thin but provide great protection.

Kotex has a new line in black boxes that seem like what you may be looking for. There's also a "period kit" I've seen online with a book, pads, etc. Good luck!

I personally won't use anything Always makes - they are the most allergenic pads on the market per my gynecologist specialist.

My 13 year old uses Kotex ultra thins - that is what she prefers.

I buy organic cotton pantiliners for myself b/c of skin sensitivity issues.

I'm pretty sure there is a brand (maybe it is the Always Slender) that is made quiet a bit shorter and narrower than regular pads. My daughter started her period at 11 and after a few months started using tampons. Maybe your daughter would consider giving that a try!

Good luck... teenage hormones are a bi*ch!

There is a much bigger safety issue at hand and no one seemed to address this.

I would look into Seventh Generation pads, they have them in different sizes but most important they are non toxic.

Hope this helps.

Theresa,

A non-disposable brand would be Happy Heiny's. They are online. Luvaboos here in Rochester carries them. You can reach her site online - she's a mama too!

Good luck!

I am petite and like the "Kotex Ultra Thin REGULAR (length) unscented pads." 22 come in a small white and pink package. I measured one (unwrapped) and they're 9.25" long.

That's the best I got. I've bought the same exact thing for about 8 years.

i am a BIG fan of "allways infinity"

they also make pads for thongs now. that may be closer to the right size for her, even if they r shaped a bit different.

Always petite/slender are the smallest I've found. (I'm 5'1", 100lbs) They work great and are the most comfortable

I like the Always Ultra Regular size (green/yellow) unscented. They hold a lot and you can barely feel them.

I know you have requested help with pads, but have you heard of or considered a Diva Cup? I use one and LOVE it. It is a flexible plastic cup that you insert and it catches the blood. Remove, empty, rinse, re-insert. She can sleep in it and she will be able to swim this summer during her period. Plus it is much more comfortable than pads. You can google Diva Cup to find it. Just a thought.
