I ovulated on the first day of my new pack of pills. I got the whole pain in lower abdomen, pain in rectum kinda thing and it was really painful this time. I thought BCP were supposed to prevent ovulation. thing is.....we had sex that morning before I ovulated! So pretty sure I could be pregnant. Not a bad thing but I don't want to take more pills if I am am preggers so...what do u think? should I stop taking the pill. Hubby and I are very fertile. Matter of fact we don't even know how we conceived our second son! :) Thanks again.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

This is silly to write because no one cares enough to follow up on my BCP question but I will say thank you for you responses and help. and yes while I am on the pill I am always hopeful that we will recieve another gift from the lord. If it is meant to be it will happen.

If you missed a day or took the pills at irregular times you can ovulate.

Pain in the lower abdomen and rectum is caused more often by several different things, including a digestive upset. You needn't feel sick to have your guts protesting against something you've eaten. I have IBS, irritable bowel syndrome and had those symptoms regularly. IBS usually starts as A. adult. I've also had that sort of pain after intercourse.

Our bodies are constantly changing which could account for the pain now that is not due to ovulating.

You can take a pregnancy test but do not stop taking the pill until you know that you are pregnant. You may, probably aren't, and you don't want to become pregnant. The pill will not hurt the fetus at this point. Most women do not know they're pregnant for another month.

Do you always have that much pain when you ovulate? I ask because that seems abnormal. Like could you be fine and just had bad sushi?

Pills are a two for, they stop ovulation but they also stop implantation. If you really did ovulate there is a chance the pills stopped implantation. Thing is if you started when you were supposed to, the Sunday after your last period, you should not have been ovulating the first day. Well unless your cycle all the heck crazy. Normally you ovulate in the middle so a week and a half, two weeks after your last period.

Anyway hopefully something in my rambling answered your question.

Something similar happened to me a few months ago, but I missed two pills at the end of the first week of the pack. Doh! We had sex after missing those two pills. I thought for sure I'd be pregnant because I felt like I ovulated and my husband and I are extremely fertile as well. I was nervous about taking the pills for the same reason that you are, but I kept doing so. Perhaps A. egg was fertilized, and the pill kept it from implanting. I'll never know. My period came when it was supposed to and we carried on.

truthfully, it's doubtful that what you felt was ovulation, it was prob some other body process, be it sickness, etc. call your OB and go in, but try not to panic... any OB/RE will tell you that those symptoms are not a sure fire sign of ovulation, and truthfully, that's really not at the right point in your cycle anyways. but, again, see a DR and be sure.

It doesn't make sense that you ovulated on the first day of the pack, if you started right after a period. Rectal pain usually indicates something else. If you missed some pills, you can ovulate. If you were taking the pill to prevent pregnancy, I'm not sure why you say it's not a bad thing if you're pregnant. Are you hoping the pill will fail because you really would like to be pregnant and are taking the pills for some other reason or at someone else's insistence? I think you should use another method of contraception until you find out if you are pregnant or not. Condoms aren't enough for anyone, and certainly not for people who say that they are already very fertile. So use condoms PLUS or avoid intercourse until you sort this out.

don't stop taking the pill. If you are pregnant, nothing will happen from continuing the pill (LOTS of women are preggo on the pill and keep taking it until they figure it out and they have healthy babies). If you are wrong or you don't get pregnant, stopping the pill will just screw up your cycle. Continue onward and wait until the end of the month to see what happens.
