Hi Ladies! - I had this pain on the right side my abdomin last night, which is gone this morning. Do you think that this is the feeling of ovulation? It felt like cramps, except it was only on the right side. So if this is ovulation what does it mean for getting pregnant again.

What can I do next?

I could aways tell when I did too. A cramp and then a sharp pop then just a day or so later my period would come.

It may only be ovulating cramps, but I would certainly keep and eye on it, because it also could be appendix, gall bladder, etc... in the very early stages. So keep an eye out for things and if it continues or gets worse, get to your doctor.

Its very possible you could have a ovarian cyst. They usually appear on the right side and tend to rare their ugly heads around ovulation. I would have your ob test you for this BUT if you have a cyst I strongly recomend you look into all your options before treatment. Also if in the event it is a cyst I recomend a book by Laura Hennings she has alot of great insight on this type of cyst. Some treatments can make the cyst larger. Now if its not a cyst you could becoming more intune with your body. It would be a good idea to track your cycle to help your doctor out. Also a typical ovulation occurs 14 days after the first day of your period. As far as becoming pregnant again that all depends on when you plan to try again. Lifestyle and diet and age all play factors in this. Hope this helps.

Rule of thumb is we ovulate from one side one month and the other side the next month. Sometimes there can be some pain involved for no paticular reason. If it continues to happen I would worry, if not then don't worry overly much. See if it happens again next month or the following one. My doctor told me once it could happen if you were releasing two eggs at the same time.

I used to feel a twinge on alternating sides each month. Without fail, I'd feel it and my period would start 7 or 8 days later. It's how I knew I would probably get preggers with #2! Hubby and I had sex one night and I had the pain the next night. Sure enough, my next period was late and I found out I was pregnant a bit later.

Cramping is not a tell-tale sign that you are definitely ovulating. It's possible, but there are other signs you should be watching for such as egg-white vaginal secretions. It's thick, wet and slimy just like an egg-white. Also a noticeable drop in temperature as well as increased sex drive are two other good signs to watch for.

Charting is a great way to help achieve (or avoid) pregnancy. This is not 100% effective, but nothing really is. It took my husband and I 3 months of 'trying' after I began charting. I would suggest doing a general search for fertility charting. You can also do a search for Couple to Couple League (or Couple to Couple Life League, I don't remember the exact name) for more information. They have a wonderful study course if you are interested in learning more about your fertility cycle and how all that works. :)

God bless,

If you think it is ovulation you should be doing "it" right now, if you want to get pregnant again. There are many books written to help you identify your body's ovulation signs. It really isn't too difficult to do. One book is call "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." I used to think I could feel an ovulation pain, but once I could read the other signs, I don't think that was what I was feeling. Good luck.

Could be ALOT of things, but I have suffered from ovarian cysts in the past and the pain you descibe seems the same as I experienced during those times. Keep track of it and talk with your doc if it last longer than several days.

Absolutely you can have a slight pinch or tiny cramp on one side when you ovulate! It's call Mettleschmirtz (after some dr who discovered it.) I have experienced this my whole life, but only one one side so it's every other month, and so have my daughters, now adults.

It very well could be. I have the same kind of feeling when I am ovulating too, except that mine is on my left side. The doctor said that typically your ovaries take turns each month, so the cramps should be alternating.

You can buy those ovulating prediction tests to be sure, but I never used them. I have used taking my temperature first thing in the morning to be able to tell, and that was pretty accurate. Once you know for sure that that's what the cramping as it relates to your temperature, you can probably stop taking your temperature every day each month.

As far as getting pregnant goes, you have about a week window where you could get pregnant around the time that you ovulate. So you have ovulated you need to take advantage of that time if you want to get pregnant. If you want to avoid getting pregnant, then you need to abstain.

Hope this helps.

sometimes you can feel yourself ovulate, you should take your temperture, if it is higher than normal then you probably are ovulating, if it a pain that continues I might talk to my doctor, sometimes ovarian cyst can feel like that, but really if you want another child, then there is no time like the present to start trying!

goodluck

It's possible. Some women can feel ovulation. I had ovarian cysts and the first time it was like bad cramps but it subsided after a few hours, the next time (the following month) I went to the hospital because I thought it was my appendix. I could barely move or stand up - it was excruciating - I almost called an ambulance. Do you know where you are in your cycle? Most pregnancy calculators say that you are fertile for 2-3 before and on the day of ovulation and fertility probability drops off significantly after that. So if you are really trying to get pregnant - get busy ASAP ;-), if not wait another day or so and you should be safe - if that's what it was...who knows though. HTH
