As I look at the snow out my window, I have decided I'm officially done with winter and ready for summer. I'm looking for a quick overnight, possibly 2 night, trip for my family. I'm taking the kids to Wildwood, NJ in August, but my husband can't make the trip because of work, so I'm looking for a place nearby that we can go with everyone. We did Great Wolf last year and would like something different. The people at Massenutten were extremely rude to us on the phone and even hung up on us, so we are not quick to want to try them out. Anywhere to go within 4 hours of DC? I'm looking at Dutch Wonderland, but was wondering about any other places.

Do you want to ski or do you want "warm"??? Nothing much "warm" in the Mid-Atlantic region right now. Check into North Carolina as well. Talk to a travel agent and ask for ideas for overnights with kids...I think Dollywood is than 6 hours...never been to Pigeon Forge myself - but have had friends who have been there and loved it.
When we did our trip up the Atlantic coast...we ventured inland to Hershey Park and had a blast! We also went to Gettysburg as well.
I spent a lot of time at Dutch wonderland when I was a kid! If your kids are very young, it's good, but past the age of 7 or so it was very boring. Maybe it's better now. Check out Knoebles Grove, Dorney Park, Hershey Park.
Did you do Great Wolf in Williamsburg? That is where I would go. Try Kingsmill Resort - they have a really fun kids camp and lots of other fun stuff to do. 2 hours from DC.
There you have: Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, and a host of other activities. Kingsmill itself has golf, spa, sports club (indoor and outdoor pools) and a brand new outdoor area with a water slide, lazy river, and zero depth pool with sprayers at the end. We go here every year and just love it!
We really enjoyed Dutch Wonderland. It's nice for little ones, because there are rides that even your 2 1/2 year old will be allowed to go on - which you can't say is true for many amusement parks. And Hersey is close by if you want to go to both.
Of course, I personally am a beach person and Ocean City/Fenwick Island are so close to you.
