Overnight Leaking

I need a different diaper solution for nights with my 10 mo old. He wears Huggies 4s, which are fine all day, but the last few nights have not been enough to catch all his urine. Mostly because he's sleep in longer. Yea! but Yuck. I've looked for inserts to add capacity to his regular diaper, but haven't found them. And the "overnights" I've seen just seem to be pull ups for kiddos starting to potty train during the day. Or do they have increased capacity too?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks, I'll use the adult pads. Easy.

We had the same diaper over-flow problem. Huggies makes a night-time diaper in size 4 and 5 that has worked well for us. It's a regular diaper (not a pull-up). I've been able to find it at Fred Meyer and Rite Aid.

B.,

We had to use Overnights by HUGGIES for a while. We consistently found them at Rite Aid.

Hi B.,
My son had a the same problem. The only inserts I was able to locate are sold at Safeway, and look like maxi pads without the plastic backing(I tried online, researching manufacturers, etc.). They are called "Diaper Doublers," come in a light blue bag and have the Safeway logo. I used them along with Huggies Nightime diapers, which are in a dark purple bag, and sold mostly in size 4 or 5. I mention the bags because they are often hard to find even when you know what you are looking for. The stores don't carry many of these, and they are often wedged between or behind others. My son gave up diapers at 3 1/2, and 40 lbs., and this combo almost always worked up until then. I also never limited fluids after dinner, and he drank 9oz. of milk at bedtime!
As a back up, and in case of other issues, I always use a crib size mattress pad covered with a flannel blanket right under him. Makes for a quick middle of the night cleanup, if required.
Good Luck!

I've had the same problem with all 3 of my kids. I start out using Huggies Overnites (purple packaging). They come in size 4 and size 5. Once those start to leak I use a bladder control pad (for adults) it's like a diaper doubler but absorbs more urine since it's made for an adult size bladder. We actually use an Overnight diaper with a pad for our son and we have no more leak throughs and early morning wake ups now.

Try using a diaper that is one size bigger for night time. My daughter wore size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 at night. That stopped all leaking problems for us. Good luck!

I would put him in a size 5 for the night time. We found that to work. If you need the diaper doublers, a friend used to buy them at Safeway.

I found diaper doublers online through diapersite.com. They work great in tandem with the Huggies Overnights diapers, which do seem to have increased capacity themselves.

My daughter had the same issue. We actually switched back to Pampers - they're a bit more expensive but also a bit more absorbant.

Hope that helps!

From my experience Pull-ups have a reduced capacity, but Goodnights have a good amount of capacity.

We use the Huggies Overnights, too, and they work great for 12 hrs overnight. I've only found them at Safeway here in PDX.

Huggies makes great overnight diapers (not pull-ups)although I can find them at no Portland stores. I buy them on-line from Diapers.com. They hold a TON and come in size 3,4 and 5.

We use the Walmart brand diapers White Cloud and they are amazing at holding up leaks. They are actually the number 1 mother rated diaper. Also the diaper doublers can be purchased at Babies R Us. I bought some about a month ago, when we were in the process of finding the right diaper for my 10month old. Used it for my 22month old when she was sleeping for 14-15hours overnight and they were great, except for when she moved around a lot in her sleep.
