My daughter will be five soon and she is outgrowing all of her preschool board games. Can anyone recommend any fun games for a five year old?

Thanks!

you can go to Board Game Geek for reviews of boardgames, both traditional and "Euporean" (those are the new wave of board games). It can be found at board game geek dot com (with spaces removed and the dot replaced ;-))

Card games are great. Go fish is always a good game. If your child can't hold the cards (my grandson had trouble) you can use a shoe box turned on it's side. You put the cards on the short side and that way the child can see what he/she has without being worried that others can see the cards.

I would try the Jr. versions of classic games. I have seen the Monopoly Jr. and Clue Jr. and I am sure there are lots more. Jenga is a good game that can be entertaining from 3-93 years old. Connect 4 and Guess Who too. She is at the perfect age to start learning card games, if you know any yourself.

My sister's kids have "Headbandz" and introduced my daughter to it when she was about 5-6, she loved it so we gave it to her for her birthday. She is 7 now and still loves it. We have taken it on Girl Scout overnights and to game night get togethers, kids up to 10 - 11 even love it.

I would've recommended all the ones that Amanda W. said. Also, Memory is great for building.. well, memory! It's a great brain buster. I bought my son SpongeBob memory and HATED it. Go with the traditional Memory. The character ones are too similar in the pictures and hard to distinguish the difference. For example, there were SO many that had SpongeBob, but slightly different. Spongebob holding a hamburger, Spongebob with his pet, etc. Traditional Memory has different, easy to distinguish ones such as a fish, a ball, a hat, etc. My son had a speech delay, so it was a great vocabulary builder as well.
