I don't know of any but I did a google search for organic cosmetics and all sorts of stuff popped up. That may be a place to start or at least some reading about it anyway.
Good luck

Our Mineralles makeup is awesome. Here is a story about eyeliners.

I just wanted to share an important testimonial with you! Recently, our son, Steve was home from college and he shared some startling news with me. You remember Steve is a second year pre-med student.
Well, in his Quantitative Analysis class (a high level Chemistry course) they recently conducted a study on various eyeliners. It seems the class conducted various tests on dozens of different brands of eyeliners to determine if any mutations occurred when they came into contact with human DNA. Steve shared with me that he had snuck one of my Shaklee eye pencils into the mix to see how it would fair. He confessed that he took it without my knowledge for fear that if it didn ' t do well, he could spare his dear old mom from dying a hundred deaths over her beloved Shaklee failing the test. Well, he shouldn't have had any fear or worry because the results absolutely shocked his professor!
It ended up that every single eyeliner (except ONE!!) resulted in skin cell mutations.
When I asked Steve to clarify what mutations truly implied, he looked at me squarely in the eye and said, " pre-cancer cells, Mom ". Well, the professor went absolutely nuts asking the class who had brought in the Shaklee eye pencil. Timidly Steve identified himself as the culprit and the professor said, this is the only sample that not only didn't damage the cells but actually fed the cells and kept the DNA intact. Boy was Steve pleased with himself and our Shaklee!! He very proudly explained that the sample was his Mom's from her Shaklee stash. It turns out that the professor was really bowled over because he has conducted this test in class for the past several years and anticipated what the results would be, so needless to say, he was amazed to discover that a product of this quality and caliber actually exists! Pretty cool, eh?
Of course, we know about Shaklee 's science and unwavering commitment to health and wellness so we aren't surprised are we, Kitty? Still, it 's awesome to learn once again that our Shaklee truly is a gift to our bodies!! It gives me a lot of confidence knowing I can trust the Shaklee science to back up our claims that our products truly are the best on the market!! Thanks, Shaklee!!

OTC makeup is usually made with animal by-products, you should Google "tallo" that will be the base for alot of your makeup items.
Try some organic lines like Arbonne at www.arbonne.com or also Garden Botanika at www.Gardenbotanika.com both are organic, plant based lines that do not use animal by-products. Good Luck.

you can check products you are currently using here. "organic" and "natural" are different.

Also, just because it's called "bare" doesn't mean that minerals are the only ingredient. it very well could contain other particles that aren't good for you.

hope you find what you're looking for!

You've received lots of good information regarding ingredients. You're right to be reading labels on anything you put on your skin as it is absorbed into your system. Two of the main culprits are tallow, which is the fat that rises to the surface when dead animal by-products are boiled down for disposal, and mineral oil/petroleum, that is a by-product of gasoline and oil production. If you google either of those you will get a long list of alternative names that companies use to conceal the fact that they are using these ingredients in their products. You will find them in 80-90% of the skin care and cosmetics on the market.
I am a consultant with Arbonne International. We are a botanically-based, Swiss health and wellness company that has a number of product lines, including mineral-powder make-up. You can go to my webpage at www.nursekerry.myarbonne.com for more information. We do not use mineral oil or animal by-product in any of our product lines.

The only purely organic mineral makeup that I have found that I absolutely love is called bella pierre and it's the best stuff! It only has like 4 ingredients and they are all purely natural, you can even mix your own lipstick which is awesome! The colors have shimmer and you can create them to be creme or powder color, and the foundation is a 3 in 1 mineral powder. It's a concealer, foundation, and a finishing powder! This makeup is excellent!
They have a small kiosk inside washington square just down from sears.
It can be a little pricey but this makeup is good for 2 years plus. You don't have to replace it unless you run out or for at the minimum after the 2 years is up.

Lavera - its organic and german made - very good quality, you can go online and buy it, or many supermarkets sell it in their organic section. I always buy it online, as they have many specials (you can sign up for their coupons). Another good one to try is on mercola.com they have some totally organic there.....if you are wondering what items in your makeup are unsafe, you can check out this list (there are a lot also in shampoo's too that are bad, such as sodium laureth sulfate). The list you can find on mercola.com too, here are some articles to read:

I love Bare Minerals. They've got a kiosk inside Nordstroms at Northgate, and their own boutique in belle-square in bellevue. (Don't know about further north.)

It's pricey, but I consider my makeup to be my "war-paint"... and even wearing it every day it takes months to go through. (The last time I had reason to wear anything beyond ripped jeans it was a court date... and kiddo has priority on new clothes/shoes... so at least my warpaint helps me FEEL pretty. ;) But it does last months. As in 3-6 months. (ahem, the "regular" size ones take that long, the starter kit lasts for around a month. So if you go this route, do the math with the brushes -the kabuki for foundation at least, completely worth it, the other swiping brush any old cheap one would do- & regular sized jars vs all the "free" stuff you get with a starter kit.

It DOES irk me though... the MineralVeil ($20) is just cornstarch & pigment. If I would just break down and add some pigment to store bought cornstarch I could save 19 dollars. Sigh. It means finding and matching pigments though, and that's just one more little thing on a list of 200 things to do that just doesn't have high priority.

Nicole Miller (a fashion designer) has a natural makeup line that she sells exclusively through the Natural online store called Melaleuca. I love their mineral makeup and all of the other products they have including skin care. Totally botanically based! And the best part is that they don't have the high prices like so many others do! If you want more info, message me!

Maybeline and Covergirl isn't too much of a label junkie. If you were buying Chanel just because it says Chanel, than that would be another issue. And yes, Covergirl adds a TON of fragrance (I can't even wear it because it makes me sneeze).

I don't know your income level or if it's considered organic, but I love Bare Minerals.

But what I really recommend is for you to either buy or go to your library and check this book out - it is a great reference guide for buying make-up:

check out www.cosmeticdatabase.com. they rate products based on their ingredients and their toxicity. even the 'natural' or 'mineral' makeup lines have ingredients that you really shouldn't put on your skin. i have found that you cannot even trust one company exclusively as they might have one 'safer' product but their others aren't. check each item in their database and if it isn't in there, you can put it in yourself to see the report.

Try this brand. I love it's coverage and the fact it is RAW & Organic. You won't get the pressed powdered look but can put a light dusting of mineral veil (I use Maybelline too btw, as well as Bare Escentuals) over it. Check it out.
www.beautytruth.com
Go to products after the intro

Another useful site I like for checking what's available for all over body is www.saffronrouge.com
Good luck, happy shopping and be prepared to pay a bit more than Maybelline, it will be worth it though. I can speak from experience that the overall improvement in the texture, tone , color, clarity of my skin is amazing from making these changes.

Good luck

There is absolutely only ONE product line I've ever come across that is 100% *Certified Organic*, FOOD-GRADE skin care, baby care, and cosmetics. As far as I know, it is the ONLY line certified organic.

They list the ingredients for every product, and they also have an online glossary of toxic ingredients that are in most mainstream cosmetics.

Check it out: I'd loooove love love to buy from them, but I can't afford it. I'd love to sell for them, too, but in the tanking economy, I doubt anyone would be willing to pay $34 for a 5oz bottle of baby lotion :(

ANYWAY! AWESOME SITE!!!

Hi JS, I don't personally like wearing makeup - just couldn't ever get comfortable with it...but I do keep up on organics and skin care. Some of the best would be Aubrey Organics...Dr. Hauschka, Better Botanicals, Eco Bella, Weleda, Jurlique, Natural Cosmetics...there really is so many great products out there on the market today, you could first go to the co-op and take a gander, look at freddies too, and try other natural food stores...If you want a great deal, check out the grocery outlet (they have label changes, close outs and mark downs - not to mention great deals on organics when they get them in like Natures Gate, etc. for a fraction (I mean about a fourth) of the regular cost. Look around and ask questions of those who work with it and they could give you the best feedback on the items they sell and what is most popular...Big kudos for taking the time to check out what is in your makeup - that stuff seeps right in through your skin and right into your system (remember your skin is the biggest organ.) Here's to your beauty!
