Opinions on Tempurpedic Deluxe Bed

We have a fairly new tempurpedic bed and it's comfy enough for us. It's a pretty firm mattress and we are both big people. We aren't fond of the way it forms a spot where you tend to lay more often and sorta molds to that shape. It makes it hard to roll over, or switch sides. There isn't a visable dip where we lay, or a hump in the middle, but when you try to roll across the mattress it is very obvious.I can imagine if we let company use our bed it would be really weird for them. Also we went from a spring mattress to this and find it to be harder to stand up since there is no spring to help push us up. It really made my legs sore at first and I suppose I'm used to it now, but would love that little "lift" the springs gave me. We aren't fond of how thick mattresses are now. It makes it nearly impossible for the 2 of us to move it and we had to buy all new linens to fit even when going from king to king. We asked for a low profile foundation so the bed wouldn't be so high, but it's still a couple inches too tall. Even being tall ourselves, it won't let my feet get flat on the floor before standing up and as we age it's not a very secure feeling first thing in the morning. So be aware of the new height and all that it takes to adjust to it. For the most part we are comfortable in our new bed when sleeping, but wish we had our old one back for some of these reasons. And don't plan of this being your last bed if you are only starting your 40s, unless you don't plan to live past 50. I don't think this will last longer. Our grown son has a Sleep Number bed system and even with the fortune it cost him, he loves it! He can change the firmness anytime he wants, and when one part breaks or wears out he can order that part only and not the whole bed. He's in his mid 30s and may be smarter than we are in his research of beds. I helped him move 3 times since he bought it and it is the easiest thing to take apart and set up. Sheets fit, and you can't tell it's air filled. I'd check into that type of bed if I had the chance again.

Are you able to return the tempurpedic at all for a refund. I hate to tell you this b.c I don't want you to stress if you keep the temperpedic, but here is what we found:

Did you look at Savvy Rest? We love, love, love ours. Debated and stressed a lot b.c it it so much money. Looked at tempurpedic of course, but most people don't realize that it's made from petroleum based products and flame retardants that off-gas chemicals while you sleep. I have fibromyalgia and migraines so I am sensitive to smells and chemicals. For us, organic latex mattress was the way to go for us and our daughter. If you are so inclined, do some research on the toxic nature of mattresses today. Also, my sis and BIL have one and they are larger people. They have noticed significant sagging over the last 3 years.
With that being said, I have many friends who love there tempurpedic.

We bought our Tempurpedic bed 12+ years ago and we love it (don't recall which model is it, sorry can't help with that). The bed is still like new - firm and doesn't sag. It takes a while to get used to the firmness, but when it molds to your body and you feel totally supported, you forget all about it. Ours has a zip-off cover that is machine washable, but some kid-induced spills have still penetrated the cover, so a mattress pad/cover is still a good idea. My only complaint is that the mattress retains your body heat, so in the middle of the night in summer I get hot, but in winter it's great! I say it's worth the investment.

we got the rhapsody for our queen at the lakehouse and the delux for the king here at our house here.

honestly i don't see much difference in either. the rhapsody is a little stiffer but i like both just fine.

both give me a wonderful night's sleep and are great on my back!

When we were bed shopping last year we thought about getting one...until we laid on it in the store. It was weird how when you first laid on it nothing happened but then after a few mins your body heat warms it up and your sort of sink in. Since we're in MD and it gets pretty cold here in the winter, we didn't want that. Plus, we both toss and turn at night and thought it would be weird to roll over and then sink in a few mins later. We also wondered how sex would work on it. LOL

I also toss and turn a bit at night and have backaches. To my experience, after being molded to the temprrpedic foam, it takes more efforts to turn around...
We also just bought a new bed, a firm one (not the firmest) for our aching backs. But after sleeping on it for a couple of night, we thought it was too stiff for the pressure points. We then have to put back a layer of 3" temprupedic foam on the new bed! We are planning to go back to check out some softer firm beds (we have a 30 days trial period). But we do not like pillowtop, too soft. We found that after a while, all beds go soft under where your body is and have no support...
