A friend is trying to get me interested in using Melaleuca. I would love to get an opinion from anyone out there who has tried it. I am mainly considering the cleaning products. Thanks!

Melaleuca products are definitely second to none!! I started "going green" about 2 years ago and only recently discovered Melaleuca. Their products are by far the best I've used! I've converted my entire home over to their products and will never go back! Their cleaners are highly efficient and work just as well, or better, than store brands.

I LOVE their products. My favorite are the laundry products. I also use their cleaning and dishwashing products. They really aren't a lot more expensive because they come concentrated. I love that there are no harsh chemicals and their better for the environment.

My advise is to be careful. while the products do work, you have to buy a monthly minimum to remain a discount member. The monthly min of 35 points end up costing around $50.00 and that is not saving money if you have to spend a minimum every month... i never spend 50 bucks a month on cleaning products from the store...

i used mealeuca for a while but i can not afford the minimum and they are very high pressure to sell the product and i dont have time for that.

i switched to shaklee and i am a shaklee discount member which means i signed up only to purchase products and not to sell so they NEVER bother me to sell.

I love the shaklee products even more than the melaleuca they have no strong odors and they are super concentrated so it lasts for ever. I bought the starter kit about 7 months ago and still have not used half of it. the only thing we go through fast is the laundry detergent because we have a family of 5 with 3 boys under 5 and do a ton of laundry...

i will add that I did try the seventh generation laundry and I just did not think it worked well.

well... just thought that would help your decision process.

good luck-
A. J

I did Melaleuca for a couple years and cancelled a few months ago.

I like the fact that the dishwashing soap and laundry detergent doesn't have phosphates that get into the water (and ultimately the lakes). Their effectiveness, however, isn't the greatest. They work fine but not fantastic (i would add oxy-clean for a tough load and get the major crud off the dishes before putting them in the washer). I am still finishing up my 'stock' and am starting to use grocery store brands of 'earth friendly' products and think I might like it better.

I like Tough and Tender. It cuts through grease really well. I also like the shampoo that has the melaleuca oil in it --- I have issues with dandruff due to oily skin and it really gets my scalp good and clean!

That said -- you'll probably have your favorites, but I agree that it's hard to meet the minimum, especially because the products do last a long time. I did by alternating months with a buddy. It needs to be someone you trust because we both had our credit cards on the account and we'd each choose which one to pay with. If you get the vitamins, that will contribute to having an ongoing minimum. They're not cheap --- but they're also worth a try --- if their claims are true they're worth it. (The bonding agent they use dissolves better than Centrum, etc. and therefore the vitamins get absorbed in your body, rather than just passing through your system.)

Good luck!

The Meleleuca products are great!! I use them all the time and order every month. We especially like the Renew lotions, Tooth Whitening toothpaste, Melegel for cuts and burns, and the cleaning products. They are all natural products and I fell safe using them around the house with my kids. The kids shampoo and body wash, and the kids pain medicine (like tylenol). I highly recommend their products!

My mom uses Melaleuca and I have used the cleaning products some. I don't like any of them. The wipes seem oily and take forever to dry. The floor cleaner seems to dry sticky, I had to remop with Fantastic because I didn't have any other floor cleaner. The laundry detergent is ok, but doesn't get the smells out of my husbands socks (which might be him, not the detergent). That is the only cleaning products I've used.

Hi,
I really like all the products I have purchased. I have now closed my Mealaleuca account because of the minimum order needed each month.

I LOVE Melaleuca! I have been with them for 6 years and have NEVER had a problem meeting my order each month! (we are just a middle class income family, so I do count pennies)

Not only have I enjoyed the products, but switching over to them has really helped a lot of issues in my household. I dont have migraines like I used to, my kids itchy skin has been completely gone and my son who was born 16 weeks early has totally over-come his asthma by 3! His lung doctor is in total amazement!

I highly reccommend trying it out for yourself, I know the products are gauranteed so I dont think there is a risk. If you dont like it or cant order enough you just send it back and cancel and get a full refund. But you cant really fall in love if you dont try it yourself.

PS: I have never had an issue being pressured to sell anything! The previous poster must have had an issue from an individual as the company itself has never acted like that towards me.

GL and I hope you love it as much as I do!

The Products are GREAT! I sold Melaleuca for 4 years before my youngest was born (almost 5 yrs ago). I was a member of The MOM Team under Donna. I did very well in the business. However, to keep it up I had to work alot of strange hours. I am very internet savy, so for someone who is not it could take up even more time. The other draw back was that the higher on the ladder I climbed, the more money I had to spend each month on product. More product than my then family of four could use on a monthly basis. While I was pregnant, I developed a very serious skin rash. It was traced back to the tea tree oil in my Melaleuca products and I had to discontinue the use of them in my home.

Think long and hard about going into this "business". It IS a MLM (no matter what they call it). Everyone that I know who is honest will tell you that you Do end up spending more money than you make. Of cours unless you at the top of the ladder. Then your money spent is just a drop in the bucket compared with what you are making.

I have been a Melaleuca customer for over a year and half. I love their products and never have too much of any one item. The concept of Melaleuca is to switch stores. To not only buy the cleaning products, but your laundry detergent, shampoo, soap, vitamins, drinks, etc. The vitamins are not expensive and they are the best around. The monthly commitment is 35 product points, and not doubling up on anything I spend around 80-100 product points each month! My family is a family of four. We are on a budget and have been on a budget since before I became a customer and we didn't change our budget for us to become a customer. If you only buy the cleaning products then you will end up with a lot of cleaning products, but if you want your cleaning products to be safe don't you want everything else your daughter comes in contact with to be safe as well? Another awesome product is the Renew lotion! It is great for eczema and diaper rash!

Hi,

Their cleaning products are great, but like your other responces say becarful you will be drug into a fix amount every month and you will wind up with to much of one item if you go that route. My advice to you is if you like the product find someone that has a account with them that cant meet thier month amount and buy from them to help them meet their min order it helps you and them both I use their cl3eaning line and my sister is a rep. but she can't meet her month total so we share in it if your mother buys and is part of their team talk to her and see if you can order from her on her account. The same goes with amway and their sister compant qicstar. You have to becareful with any of these companies that offer you a money saving gimic, yes it saves money but in the long run its all a scam there is someway they will get you that is in your pocket...I think at the time it cost her 125. to join and then there after she has to have a monthly order of no less than 70. a month and I dont know bout you but 70 dollars can go to other means in my family then shellin it out on product i already have just to keep an account open with this company. do your reshearch before you sign any papers then look at your finances make sure if you join you can afford to throw 70 a month just to the same cleaning products every month. I love their cleaning supplies but my husband doesnt liek thier mens line said it smells to girly(to much perfume) I am not slamming this company, but do your homework.

I LOVE Melaleuca...and to all those who cancelled because of "minimum fixed order points" etc...I'm curious - did you cancel going to your grocery store too? Because unless you stop doing your laundry, washing your dishes, showering, brushing your teeth, cleaning your house - well, you still need these products!! So if you are only using Melaleuca products, which is the point because we are wanting to get the better safer products into our home and make it a healthier safer place for our families, plus a better environment, well it's not a difficult thing to do. Now, I do not want to step on anyone's toes, but quite honestly, it's not difficult at all - you change to Melaleuca products to become healhtier and safer - so only use their products. You're not spending extra money - just changing where you shop. So money goes to Melaleuca instead of your grocery store!

Good luck and as always - you can try it out for 4 months with no risk and products are always 100% guaranteed!

I am so glad that Melaleuca exists! My daughter was diagnosed with Autism and we had many many tests run and found that she had, among other things, high levels of pesticides in her system. I had no idea that the Lysol I was using to clean her toys, high chair, changing table and our kitchen counters actually contained a registered pesticide! Not only that, but the baby wash, laundry detergent and lotions I was using on her all contained formaldehyde as a preservative. Formaldehyde (aka Quaternium 15)is a known carcinogen - meaning that it is known to cause cancer! When we did our research on everything in our house, we found Melaleuca and simply switched stores. I only order what our family uses and no longer shop the household chemical aisle at WalMart. It costs me less too. I know I could buy 'green' cleaners at the store, but they cost me more than $1.25 a bottle and do not contain an all natural disinfectant. My Melaleuca cleaning products contain a high grade tea tree oil that is a natural disinfectant and antifungal and kills everything that Lysol does without using a pesticide. I also love that there are many other uses for the products as well. I have recipes for easily mixing up my own bug spray, ant killer, oven cleaner and athlete's foot treatment - just to name a few. I like that I can use my laundry detergent in my carpet cleaner. I like that my kids can help with the cleaning with just paper towels and I don't need to put rubber gloves on them because what they are using is safe. So, our family has no problem meeting the minimum order because we actually switched stores and no longer buy any of our cleaning or personal care products at Wal Mart. According to my bean counting husband, we still save money every month and come in under budget.

HI A.,

I tried these products and loved them and they work wonderfully well. Especially the cleaning products since they won't harm your lungs (like bleech and the others that have the clean smell to them which is actually called outgasing and is very harmful for your lungs). I liked everything I used because most of the cleaners are concentrated and you can purchase the bottles to mix them so you would get 4 bottles of bathroom cleaner for abot $1.65 so it seemed rather a great deal, but you have to order a specific number of points (everything is on a point value system which means you spend about $65.00 a month). It's directly taken out of your bank account each month and you should also have a back up order or if you forget to place your order online (which is also very easy) otherwise they will send you something they think you matches your history. I loved everything and tried them all for over a year, but noticed that my closets were filling up with products and I just couldn't use all of this in a month, but if you don't mind the cost and automatic deductions it is a great product.
The products have tea tree oil in them so the smell is different (some love it, some hate it) so that is something you may want to ask your friend if she can let you try a couple of things (when she places her next order)or even smell or look at some of her proucts and cleaners, the bathroom one isn't bad at all and also works great (you get a concentrated bottle but you would also purchase another bottle to mix it in and it gives you like 4 16oz of cleaner for a good deal, it is just alot to use up in a month so if you try it out, you could order different things each month (I was stocking up on a bunch of the cleaners)and then decided that it was overall costing me too much and I still have products left here that I will eventually use. You also have to give a 30 day written notice to cancel. There is a wide variety of products on the website. I hope this information helps, I loved everything I tried out, but had some comments on the smell from my teenagers (but it goes away fast and cleans great) and one other person that signed up under me (you can sell it too). Let me know if you have any additional questions or want me to tell you which products were my favorettes?

Wishing you the best!
M.

I have been a customer for almost 4 years and would not ever shop anywhere else. They are so much more than a cleaning product store. There over the counter products are cheaper than Wal Mart generic brands for things like Claritin, Tylenol, etc
They have over 400 products and growing. To address some concerns below, the min. order is 35 pts and my family of 4 does over 150 pts a month. My husbands heart healthy vitamin pack is 34 pts a month before we order anything else. Plus there are no contracts so you can cancel risk free at any time.
Plus as a customer you can earn $120 a month just for being a loyal customer :) This company cares about the average American family-7 families are paid commission on every order placed.
Great products... Great company :)

Buy on your friends membership. Some of the cleaning products are very good and last a long time and are much healthier for your family than the commercial ones. But this MLM requires a large order to keep it going every month. I personally do not trust their personal care products as safe enough and was not willing to buy everything from them to keep up the minimums. My neighbor and I did it together, and after about 5 months we were done. Be forewarned A.. There are other safe brands out there worth checking out and you can buy as needed or stock up on a sale... Ecover, Ecos, Seventh Generation and more.

Good Luck.

I love it! I sell it too! But I had a child that had lukemia, and I am a clean freak! The products don't make your house smell so chemically. But clean, and oh my gosh, they work! I can not live without the tub and tile, you will never have to scub soap scum again.

I don't do the vitam's and stuff, i love the cleaning products, candles other stuff. Try it and see if you like it.
