Hello, I am considering buying a Britax Frontier car seat/booster for my daughter who will soon outgrow her convertible car seat. I am interested in hearing other moms' opinions of this seat, positive and negative. I am primarily interested in this seat because of its higher weight limit as a 5-pt harness seat. Thank you!

So What Happened?

Thank you to everyone who responded. I was already pretty sure that I would go with the Frontier and posted mostly to make sure others who already had it liked it since I'm buying it online and can't imagine the hassle of trying to return it if we didn't like it. So thank you all for your input, I'm going to get it!

My son (2years 5 months) has been in his for about 2 months due to his length. He had outgrown the heights recomendations for his other seat. He loves it! I love it too. Pros, easy adjusting, cup holder that works, arms come up and down, lots of padding (we do a lot of long distance cross country trips) moveable crotch strap, head gaurds for when they fall asleep. Cons depending on the car can be difficult to install the first time until you figure it out. We had some problems with it because the center position where I wanted to keep him in our Jeep grand cherokee is too narrow for the base of the seat. My son finds this as a bonus because he gets to sit next to the window. Straps can fall behind the child making difficult to get to. The book recomends that you put the arms up and loop then over them to hold the straps in place while you put your child in and out. This works great! It is a heavy seat if you plan on moving it a lot. the favric is not too bad, it is not a s heavy as say the roundabout but it seems to breath better and does not hold the heat.

I would buy it again. I don't know where you are looking at purchasing it but I got mine off of Diapers.com and they send it next day mail for free. They were also cheaper than any other place and will price match. I am always about saving money. they are having a britax sale right now too.

Hope this helps.feel free to write back if you want to no anything more about it.

Ditto to what the other moms have said! We have the Frontier for my almost 4-year-old, and we love it. It is a big seat, but it fits fine in the captain's chairs in my Odyssey. My daughter likes the cup-holders and armrests--and the fact that it looks more like a "big girl" seat. I like that it is sturdy and adjustable, and, with the high weight limit, the last seat I will have to buy for her! I also found it to be very highly rated on a number of carseat review sites. The fabric doesn't hide dirt as well as the other Britax seats we've had, but that really is my only complaint.

I looked at so many carseats, but the Britax Frontier is what I ended up ordering just yesterday. I looked at a few sites with customer reviews and no one ever regretted buying it. The fact that it has such a high safety rating really convinced me too. Getting into an accident is high on my list of worries and I am so relieved to rest easier knowing my son will be in a very safe seat. Hope you find what you are looking for and all the best to you!

Hi, You may want to check out www.healthycar.org for car seat ratings based on toxic levels of car seats. Several states have already passed laws banning some of the chemicals used in car seats and more have it in the works. So what you buy today may not be legal in a little while. Good luck!

Love it. My daughter has been in hers for about 1 yr now. She is almost 5 and very tall, but I still wanted her to have the safety of the 5 pt harness. Almost all of her friends are in booster without a harness, but I like the extra safety as long as possible. Her only complaint with the seat was that the fabric wasn't as soft as her other Britax carseat. I read some reveiws before we purchased and people complained about the difficulty in installation, but it's not difficult if you follow the instructions. You reach through the seat to latch it in, rather than around the sides (hard to explain without having a seat in front of you). We have it in our Honda minivan and it fits perfect.

I am not sure the specs on the Frontier, but we bought two Sunshine Kids Radian 80's and I love them. I think we are going to buy two more. They have a very high height limit and go to 80 lbs for weight in a 5 point harness. The best part is tht they are realy narrow, especially at the bottom, so I can easily fit three (if I needed to) into the back seat of my small sedan. I actually put them side by side and then have space for my stuff without putting it on the floor. It is great. Our smaller britax is so wide, I could only put two seats and had about an eight inch space between which couldn't fit anything but a bag for kiddie stuff. Now I can fit two kids and an adult in the back seat.
