Hey girls, I'm just wondering if anyone else feels like PMS is taking over. I've been tracking my cycle just so I can be one of those people who knows when their period is coming..and also because we are trying to plan our next pregnancy...not for a while but we're "trying" to plan it out. Anyway, I'm noticing that I have like 1 good week with no cramping, moodiness, exhaustion, bleeding, etc..Basically one week with no cycle symptoms. Please tell me I'm not alone or strange. Anyone else out there feel my pain??? Oh and if any of you know of a way to combat it, that would be great too! :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you Thank you Thank you!! I'm not CRAZY! and I'm not alone! I greatly appreciate everyone's responses and that you took a few minutes out of your day to ease my mind! You ladies are awesome! I think I will talk to my doctor about my symptoms during my next appointment. Until then I'll exercise more and eat less processed junk. I'm so relieved that it is common to have these issues. You guys are the best!

Excercise works wonders for me. I used to take BC pills but got sick of those. Regular excercise had controlled most of my symptoms but lets face it being a parent is hard work so I think moddiness may be part of the stress of life. I am running about two to three miles four to five days per week. I am also lifting weights. If anyone gets in the way of my excercise I remind them that mommy is CRAZY when she doesn't excercise.

Is it possible that you have PMDD, which is a more severe type of PMS? I would ask your doctor about that. My understanding is that if you have only one good week it may be PMDD. I have it, and a very low dose of an antidepressent medication has given me my sanity back. I would call your OB and ask her what she thinks.

I was like that too 1 decent week maybe just 5 days. I also tracked my cycles for pregnancy purposes. I couldnt believe I was that miserable that much of the time. No wonder men think we are horrible people. I finally talked to my GYN about it and he did some tests including a laperscopic surgery (I had also been trying for a baby for over a year) and found I had stage 4 endometriosis. Stage 4 is the most severe you can have. After I was finished having my kids I had a cryoablasion but it didnt work and then I had a hysterectomy leaving my ovaries just this past june. I feel so much better. You really need to talk with your dr about it cause my female friends say I was not normal cause they dont have symptoms all month like I did. The have PMS like 2 days then bleed/cramp for 3 then its over till the next month. I hope you dont find anything wrong but somehow get some relief I know how horrible it is.

I don't think that you are crazy. I track mine since I'm not on the pill. I feel GREAT the first week after my period. The next week is not too bad but then the 2 wks before I start to bloat, start getting tender breasts, then the week right before I am constipated then the right when I start get an awful headache and feel very nautious. I won't evern tell you how awful my periods are....The joys of almost 40.

Good luck with your next pregnancy.

I had felt that way as well. I also had really heavy cycles. My Moms cycles were the same way so I thought it was normal. Whenever the OB/GYN would ask if I had any q's I never brought it up because I thought it was normal cycle amounts, normal feelings etc... When my amount during cycle increased even more then I mentioned it to the dr. She said as you get older the amount increases. I made a joke about investing in the tampon and pad companies since I use so much. Then she started questioning exactly how much and other things like moodiness, tired etc... We determined that I was a heavy bleeder and that my hormones were out of whack. I ended up having a Novasure procedure. It works for 95%( or something high like that) but I ended up in the percentage of people that it does not help. I ended up having a partial hysterectomy leaving my ovaries intact. My children were older and we had already decided that we did not want anymore children. Talk to your doctor about it, they can determine what you need and help you to feel better.

My husband says I have MAYBE 10 good days a month. I have headaches and am tired a lot but mostly I think it's hormonal ups and downs that he's talking about (when it's happening to you, it's hard to tell - I always tell him "this is just how I am!"). I keep thinking I should get my hormone and vitamin levels checked to see if that will help explain what's going on. Hopefully some other mamas will respond to you with good advice. It is kinda nice to know I'm not crazy or alone. ;) Thanks! (And good luck!!)

To combat cramps, take calcium -- it works like a charm! My SIL told me about that for leg cramps during pregnancy (she had to take 2-3 tablets every night or have horrendous leg cramps), so I tried it during my next pregnancy, and then tried it for other muscle aches including menstrual cramps, and it works!

Please don't take feeling crappy for 75% of your life as being normal! Check out the Blood Type Diet (http://www.dadamo.com) for information on what foods are best for your blood type. You may have some particular deficiency ("exhaustion" makes me think you might be anemic, as an example); but since being on the BTD, I've noticed significant improvement (and have lost 15 lb, which never hurts!), and MANY people on the BTD forums and diet will say that their moodiness changed when they changed their diet (usually stopped eating wheat and/or corn, depending on their blood type).
