On Line Typing for Kids

My son has had typing practice as part of his homework for 2nd grade. His teacher recommended this web site: www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing/
He is learning very slowly and still uses just one or 2 fingers.

Yes it works.
Yes it is good for kids to learn typing, as it is not taught in schools anymore, like when I was a kid. And it does help their "speed" when doing testing etc., on the computer.

I do not know about online typing courses for kids (i'm sure there are some out there) my son has one that is a software program for the computer. He is 11 and had it for a few years now. It is lots of fun and great teaching/practice tool. It is called typing instructor for kids (Typer island adventure) I'm sure there is probably more then one edision.
Also if your kids play webkinz there is a game on there (lunchroom something... i think) that is a typing program. It gets pretty tough because not only are you typing words but random letters too before they fall. It got hard for me even to do. But even my youngest loves to try to play it (which I think is really good for them).

I don't know of any specific program, but they sell some special color coded keyboards for children to learn how to type. (the keys have different colors for each finger)

You can find many of them from google, I guess. I remember LessonBoard, Keyright but I'm sure you can find much more one line.
