I'm looking for an OBGYN doctor in San Mateo area. I moved from San Francisco, then Boston, then back to Bay Area, well, this time San Mateo, so I don't know any good doctor in this area. I'm planning to get pregnant soon, so the facility matters too. My insurance is Blue shield HMO.

Thank you,

I see Claire Serrato, M.D. who practices in San Mateo. I love her and have been seeing her for 7 years. I had my daughter at Mills-Peninsula and had a WONDERFUL experience. I highly recommend Dr. Serrato. Office staff is nice and polite, nurses are great, and Dr. Serrato is patient and understanding.

Women's Care in Redwood City. They are located directly behind Sequoia Hospital where you would deliver. All of the doctor's are awesome and they will refer you to one. Sequoia has been redone and all of the rooms are private. You deliver and recover and stay in the same room the whole time. Good luck!

Hi E.,

My friend is a board certified OB/GYN who practices at Sequoia Hospital. She is wonderful and insists on delivering all of her own patients. Her name is Shefali Ghandi, M.D. and you can reach her office at ###-###-####. She is so caring and wonderful with her patients and staff. She accepts your coverage and is taking new patients. Give her a call. I am certain that you will like her.

I have been going to Dr. Henry Hamilton at Baywood Womens Health for about 15 years as my gynocologist, and he also helped me with fertility issues in getting pregnant, saw me through my pregnancy and delivered my baby boy last year. He is one of a very few doctors that delivers almost all of his own babies (mine was an emergency c-section at 1am). His staff is so friendly and helpful also. His office is on Baywood Ave near El Camino and his number is ###-###-####. I delivered at Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame and had a great experience there. He also did fibroid surgery for me there a few years earlier as well. Good luck!

I got to the Mediacl Arts Obstetrics and Gynecology group in San Mateo - same practive that Dr. Serrato is in. All the doctors are great (and all women). I've had two children through them. They deliver out of Mills-Pennisula in burlingame. Their website is www.maog.medem.com.

Hi E.!

Dr. Debra Shapiro is very close to you in Burlingame across the street from Mills-Peninsula Hospital (where you would likely deliver if you choose a hospital birth). I have Blue Shield HMO also and self refer to Dr. Shapiro for my annual GYN. She has delivered 2 of my 3 born children and is my OB for my 4th child (due 10/1).

I have enjoyed her personal attention over the years. I have been her patient from the early years of her practice when it was just her and one midwife. She has since expanded to several doctors and two CNMs. She listens, and is very calming. She was very involved in the birth of my 2nd son, showing me how to deal with back labor (a new experience for me with my 3rd child - ick).

My birthing experiences have been positive.
