B.S. asks from San Antonio, TX

Does anyone know of any High School or College local or around the San Antonio area that is having the Nutcracker?
I know there of the ones at the Municipal Auditorium by the Moscow Classical Ballet and Lila Cockrell Theatre by Ballet San Antonio Dance Company but they are so expensive.
Any help. I've looked in the weekender and surf the web but with no hope. Also I know of the one at Magik Theater but it's a comedy not really a dance show.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I got us tickets for this Fridays' performance at the Municipal Auditorium Theater. There were $100 but I know my Daughter will love it. Her grandmother has taken her the last two years but this year the funds are low for them so I guess I should continue her introducion to the Arts.
Update We had sooo much fun. She loved it so much. She was great and sat for the whole thing.

You can try the University of the Incarnate Word--- they have a well known ballet company.

I didn't find anything locally. If you're willing to go out of town or happen to be visiting family, there's the Austin ballet --tickets start at $15--or Ballet South Texas, much more reasonable, preprofessional but located in League City (Houston Bay area)

I'm not sure what the age of your children are but I took my 4 1/2 year old to the Magik Theatre performance ($10/seat) and we really enjoyed it. She was able to eat popcorn ($1), which added to her excitement. The music is the same and it's based on the same book as the ballet. It is just made to seem sillier for the younger audience. There was a whole side story using Lucille Ball, Charlie Chaplin, Laurel & Hardy, etc. that was totally over my daughter's head but she enjoyed it.

I have also seen the ballet and know how wonderful that is and maybe you're looking for the culture of the ballet, which I would totally understand. But if you're looking to get across the idea of the story, the price is right and really enjoyable for kids to feel like they can laugh and not have to sit so still and be quiet. Good luck!

I went to see the Nutcracker at San Antonio College a few years back. I am almost certain it is held there every year. The sound quality wasn't very good, perhaps they have solved that problem by now.
It was at the McAllister Auditorium, to be exact.
