Nursing Pads

Hello! I have been wearing Bravado nursing bras and either Gerber or Avent nursing pads. I like them both, but the nursing pads tend to show through some shirts. I have been at home since Anders was born so clothes can be casual, but I go back to teaching in 2 weeks and need more than a few tops to wear. Ideas on bras or pads that won't show through shirts?

What can I do next?

Lansinoh pads are really nice. I went back to work when my son was 4 1/2 months and never had a problem.

Medela has disposable nursing pads which are very, very thin. I'd go with those. Once your milk evens out you shouldn't have any issues with leaking as long as you pump maybe three times a day. That's what I did. With both my kids by two months of age I wasn't leaking and would only leak if I was way too full or was hours late on pumping.

I used Lily Pads and LOVED them. My sister is pregnant and I'm getting her a pair.

Teh Lansinoh pads are very thin and don't show through most shirts. But anything that is thin or clingy, you'll probably be able to see the pad through. With most clothes though, I've never had a problem with the Lansinoh pads.

THe lily padz are great, but be cautioned that they can cause raging yeast infections if you don't allow your breasts to air out for a while. Since they basically seal to your breast, they don't let any air in, and since yeast thrives in warm moist places, it can develop easily into thrush if you leak a little into the pad and don't change it right away.

I have something called Lilly Padz that I love. They are not a traditional nursing pad, rather a silicone pad that literally sticks to your breast and puts pressure on your nipple and prevents leaks (mostly). I LOVED them with my first son (I leaked a lot that time) and have used them some this time around as well. The DO NOT show at all, even through a t-shirt. They cost about $17 or $18 but you just wash them and wear them over and over so you really only need one pair.

They sell them at Motherhood or you can Google them and find them online.

I haven't actually used these, because I found out about them towards the end of nursing my second, but heard their great and "hide things". They are called "Lilly Pads" and you can buy them at Motherhood Maternity. They are a pad that kinda suctions to your breast and prevent leaks and help with protruding nipples. They are washable and reusable so you aren't spending a fortune on nursing pads. My sister-in-law who told me about them said they were so comfortable and great she was even going to get another pair for after she's done nursing to wear with shirts that are a bit reveiling to help hide herself. They must me great if she's willing to wear them after nursing! Hope this helps, or at least gives you another option.

I've used the Johnson and Johnson disposable contour nursing pads with all of my children and love them. Target no longer sells them but I have had luck at Walmart. Disposable so they're very convenient and the price is right, too! They have an adhesive patch on the back of them so you can attach them to pj tops, etc. as well.

Good Luck!

johnson and johnson makes a fabulous, disposable pad. It has a contour fit. This pregnancy I have had a tough time finding them as walmart and target don't have them try walgreens.

I too use the Medela pads. They are very thin and have the sticky square so they don't move. But what I like best about them is that they turn your milk into gel instead of just absorbing liquid into the pad. It keeps it from feeling wet on your skin like some of the other pads. I tend to leak off and on no matter what I do, so I always wear them just in case, to keep my shirts dry.

I use the Lansinoh pads. I really like them because they have a small patch of adhesive on the back so the stay positioned in your bra and they hold in the leakage much like a disposable diaper, but they are thin. The cool thing is in every box they give you a couple of milk storage bags so I have never had to buy them. Every now and then I get a free pack of baby wipes too.

I have seen some silicone ones in the One Step Ahead catalog. I haven't tried them, but they are supposed to work well. I have found that wearing a cami under my shirts helps to hide the nursing pads and my post-pregnancy body. Also, once I had established my pumping/nursing routine I found that I no longer needed to wear nursing pads.

Lily Padz are great. I nurse my 9 month old twins. At first I used the Lily Padz and something disposible...by the time I went back to work I use Lily Padz only. HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to ALL of my friends having babies. Wear them EVERY day and night.
