No Soliciting Signs - Keller,TX

I am so tired of coming home after running errands and having to pull a million things that have been rubber banded to or shoved in my door before I can open it! I thought about trying a no soliciting sign. Do they work or is it a futile effort?

What can I do next?

LOL. The thing with No Soliciting signs is that everyone seems to think they are the exception. It does cut back on salepersons, but I still get a lot of handbills and a few people who seem to think they are exceptions. At one point I wrote a nice long note and placed it over my doorbell. It was along the lines of "Please - NO SOLICITING. NO HANDBILLS. NO ADVERTISEMENTS of any kind - I have a housekeeper. I have lawn service. I am happy with my cable and internet. I love my church. And I don't need any magazines." My friends and family still tease me about being a grouch, and it seemed to even scare off people who had a legitimate reason to ring my bell. The poor UPS guy looked scared when he had to get my signature once :) But that was the only thing that worked most of the time. (Even then, a few advertisements slipped by.)

Stacey,

No soliciting signs just mean that they can't ring your door bell or knock, but does not stop them from leaving information on your door. Get a no hand bills signs posted and that means they can't leave anything.

Hope that helps you out.

Yes the sign is a great start. The doorbell stopped ringing immediately. And We've definitely seen a reduction in the amount of advertisements rubber banded to our door. On those few occasions when someone thinks they're an exception, I politely call the number on the handbill left at my door and have a short little chat with the owner or manager. That usually nips it in the bud.

NO they don't work... not to be rude but most of the sellers and people leaving flyers do not look st the sign nor can they read english. I have 3 kids under 5 and constantly have people ringing my door bell even thought there is a BABY SLEEPING sign right by it...very annoying. Maybe its just where we were located before we moved but I never could get ppeople to stop ringing my door bell and leaving flyers.

YES THEY DO WORK!!! We had the same issue...i was always being bothered by people wanting to sell meat. With a hubby who works nights ans sleeps during the day and a baby napping this was becoming a HUGE problem.

First i got the bell blocker so people couldnt ring the door bell they would have to knock. Then I purchased the No Soliciting Sign right above the Bell Blocker (I glue gunned it to the brick). Worked over night!

No more soliciting at my casa!!!!

They dont want their time waisted any more than want to waist your time.

Hello Stacey,
I've got a no soliciting sign on my front door. It seems to work pretty well. From time to time, I will still get some rubber banded fliers but the frequency of fliers has been greatly reduced!

We printed a sign and taped it to the door. It has worked!! I work from home and am home by myself most of the day so we installed a security camera for extra precaution. I think between the two of them they scared all of the solictors away.

Thanks for the post! We have had the same problem. The flyers and handbills aren't as bad as the amount of people who ring my doorbell. After one person was politley told no thank you on the magazine subscribtion, they came back rang my doorbell again and asked to come in and use my restroom. I was a little shocked! There was just no way I was about to let a total stranger in my house when I was home by myself with my two small daughters. Since then I just don't answer the door, but sometimes they ring my bell two or three times before they go away. I am going to try the sign!

You need to check your local city ordinance but I think a "no soliciting" sign only covers the actual ringing of the doorbell or knocking on your door. Which by the way most cities require them to have a license from the city first, in most cities there are no ordiances reguarding placing ads on your door.

Just another FYI it's also against US Postal regulations for anyone to put anything in or on your mail box that proper postage hasn't been paid.

Fortunately, my driveway Is down off the street a bit so most do not bother to walk the extra distance, Ha. I do have a sign as well.

Sounds like Betty does not mind them so send them in her direction !!!

It works for me, but I don't mind the handbills. I live in an addition, but out a bit, so the handbills aren't that bad. My favorite story is the lady that came to my door & was trying to sell subscriptions to the newspaper. So I pointed to my "No Soliciting" sign & asked her if she had seen it. She said yes, so I asked her why she rang my doorbell when I had a no soliciting sign. She said, "Well, I wondered what it meant."

Have a great day.
