So, it's been 30 days since I discontinued the low does birth control pills prescribed during nursing months (stopped nursing about 4 months ago). We have been using condoms since then. My last period was about 2 mos. ago. I have taken 3 home pregnancy tests, and they were all definitely negative! I am 42 and take no regular medications and am in pretty good health! So... I was just wondering if any of you have been in this situation of not knowing when to expect a period...?
With my other two children, I began my periods almost immediately after stopping the pills, so I am a bit confused and a tiny bit worried. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help!
If you are truly concerned call your OBGYN. It took me almost a year to have a regular period. But, if you are worried a professional is the best person for advice.
Hi L., you might be pre-menopausal. I started going through pre-menopause once my youngest daughter was born ( I was 39). Even if you're not- it's good to ask your gynocologist about it. As you may know there are a wide range of changes that happen to women when they start going through menopause.
I'm the same way, but my doc told me up to 6m or more is w/in normal range.

You are very fortunate to have such a loving husband and caring father for your children. Many years ago they did a study on the effectiveness of condoms, they found that only one in twenty would prevent pregnancy, you may want to keep that in mind. You also may want to go to planned parenthood and have a blood test or see your PCP for the blood test. Home pregnancy tests are not always accurate and in the commercials this is stressed. It is also important to keep in mind that your body will react a bit differently after each pregnancy, so you may want to put your panic on hold and get accurate results from one of the sources I mentioned above. I know you will get other advice from other moms. You may want to consider when your mother began menopause, I began at 40 yrs old.
