My hubby and I have been trying to get pregnant for 2+ years after a bad ectopic pregnancy, (are any of them good?). Anyway, I'm currently 7 days late and the thought of possibly being pregnant is overwhelmingly happy, however, I've taken 3 pregnancy tests, one of which was last night, and ALL came back negative. My happy feelings have switched to worry. I wonder whether I'm just overreacting and my over reaction and stress is keeping my period from coming or not. I'm really hoping for a baby and the pregnancy tests just haven't registered yet. I have a call in to my Dr., thinking that perhaps another ectopic pregnancy is taking place, or that there is something more serious going on in my wierd body. waiting for his call is terrible, and I just need some mom support right now. Has anyone else had this happen to them, with good or bad outcomes? I'd like to hear your experiences if you're willing to share. Any stories would help ease my mind...even if they are bad...and least I can be more aware of what I might be in for. Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

After 6 (5 home and 1 in clinic) urine tests, I just got my period. Only 14 days late! That's going to make my ovulation easy to track. My stupid body!

Anyway, thanks again for all your advise and support.

I have a friend who even went to her OB for a pregnancy test and it came back negative when she was actually pregnant....so hang in there. It might just be a little too early.

Good luck!!

Hi! My good friend was pregnant for over 3 months before a test came back positive. She kept taking tests and said she knew she was pregnant(no period), but since the tests came back negative she didn't do anything about it. After 3 months of not having a period she went to the doctor and found she was pregnant and now has a beautiful 5 year old boy. I know this didnt happen to me so I don't have all the details(this happened before I knew her)but I hope this helps ease your mind! Good Luck!

I was three weeks late and on my 3rd test before I got my positive when I was pregnant with my 1st son. I'm pg with my second son now and new before I was even late with this one. It could be the stress and anxiety of waiting but you also could very well be pregnant. Someone else said go to the dollar store and buy the cheap tests. I agree you will spend a lot less money and they are just as accurate as the expensive ones at the drug store.

*hugs* Hang in there hon. My period was 12 days over due, and my husband and I knew for SURE we were pregnant with out third, but like you, took multiple tests wtih negative results. I decided to relax a bit, and waited another 5 days. Another two tests, and we finally knew Isabella was for sure on the way. :) Sometimes it just takes longer for the hormones to register I guess. (though I have no idea why) I hope you'll let us know how things go! :)

It took us nearly a month before we got the + mark on the tests. On all 3 of our kids. Hang in there!! Don't get to stressed out (easier sad then done right?!) in the waiting game. Go to a dollar store and buy a whole bunch of cheap tests so you are not wasting money on pregnancy tests but can still take them when you want...
Good luck and let us all know, one way or another, as moms we have been there and will be here for you!! You are in our thoughts!!

When I was pregnant with my daughter, my period was late a couple of days when I took my first pregnancy test, and it was negative. I did a second test a week later after that and it was positive. The first time I felt - no way my test should be negative, I feel like I'm pregnant, overly tired, sometimes dizzy, just feel different.
I think no period for 7 days and negative tests should not discourage you at this point yet.

With my first daughter I didn't get my period for almost 3 weeks with negative PG tests. I finally got a positive and then called the doctor. Since we weren't sure when the baby was concieved and all the negative tests they did a blood test and my HCG was much higher then in my urine. So if nothing else, if in a week you still have no period and not positive, ask about a blood test.

Good Luck!!!

P.,

When a friend of mine was pregnant with her last baby, she could not get a positive pregnancy test. She did not find out that she was pregnant until she was 5 months along, as she went to the doctor because she felt something moving and thought that she would get it checked as she had not had her period for so long.. So, there are a lot of woman that have a hard time finding out that they are pregnant because of this reason.. But hang in there. I know how the waiting game is...

We are going to be in the TTCing club here again in a couple of months and I know how fun that is going to be....

Keep us posted! You are in my thoughts and prayers...

For what is worth I have never had a positive urine pregnancy test either at home or in clinic. They always have to draw blood. I have had four pregnancies. I had early ultrasounds with each and went home and did a UPT immediately after the US to have it for the baby book and they were always negative. :) Good luck!!

I don't know if this helps at all but my husband and I took 1 1/2 to get pregnant. I was late and my pregnancy test didn't show positive until almost 2 weeks pastwhen I would have gotten my period.

We are TTC too, and last month my cycle went to 45 days. All negative pg tests along the way... I think it probably was one of two things. An anovulatory cycle (where you don't ovulate at all...the bleeding isn't really a period, although it works exactly like one. There is a technical term for it that I can't remember right now..) OR the stress of wanting to be pregnant was making my body do wacky things.

I'd go into your doctor just for reassurance. It's also possible that you ovulated later than normal...do you do temping?

Good Luck! I know the wait can be excrutiating.

I knew I was pregnant with my third, yet my urine test at the DR's came back negative,so I asked for a blood test and sure enough I was right,I was only a couple of days late too. When are you taking the tests? Is it in the morning when your urine is super strong? That is when the pregnancy hormone is the strongest and most easily detectable.

I would wait and take another in the morning. The urine tests at the clinic are actually less sensitive than the sticks. I have had positive tests way before my period was due and then get negative at the clinic. The first time they made me wait and come back but the second and third times I brought my stick with to prove it and they did a blood test - positive. Please be patient - I know it's hard. Sometimes things like travel and stress can throw off your schedule too - that's how I got pregnant the third time - went to Mexico and period jumped ahead a week.
I don't know if you have seen a fertility specialist or not but if you would like some suggestions on how to track and get pregnant please email me. We had a hard time the first time around and then learned how to do charting and all that and got pregnant right away.
Best Wishes,
J.

there is a great book...taking charge of your fertility that is really helpful to get you know more about what your body is doing. taking your temp is a great way to know when you are fertile, but also to let you know if you are pregnant as you will have consecutive high temps at the end of your cycle...this is helpful because you stop wasting money on preg sticks, you know if your temp drops that you are getting your period soon or you know after a certain amount of days (I think it is 12 or 18 days) of high temps that you are probably pregnant. it is easy to get used to taking your temp. it is also probably time to talk to a specialist about increasing your odds...it is heartbreaking and stressful to wait month after month to see if you are pregnant. good luck.
