I'm trying to find a no-vaccine friendly pediatrician in the area of Chattanooga, TN. My baby was born prematurely and I want to at least delay her shots, if not avoid them. My current pediatrician has said that he will not see her anymore if I do not vaccinate. Does anyone know of a pediatrician who would not require this? Please don't answer with all the reasons why I should vaccinate. I have already been through these with my pediatrician.

When I said please don't answer with all the reasons for vaccination, I really meant it. It may be a huge issue for you, but I asked you not to make me listen to your issue. Please respect that. I am only asking for help finding a pediatrician who does not require vaccinations. Thank you.

Thank you Sarah! We intend to begin vaccinations when she is old enough to begin interacting with other children.

Eliza, is this an information board or an argument board?

Find a naturopath instead. They will never push vaccines and they can do well baby check ups. I have one and I love her. If you don't vaccinate, there's no need to have a pediatrician. And, my naturopath takes my insurance.

Try a family doctor. I originally took my kids to ours, but ended up switching to a larger pediatric practice, mostly out of convenience since it was much closer to my house. I do not vaccinate against Hep B- I have a family history (on my maternal and paternal sides) of very severe reaction and my children have *no* risk factors for contracting it (not to mention that the vaccination is not proven to last into the teenage years, which is when it *could* become a concern). Anyway, when it came time to put my oldest in kindergarten, my practice refused to sign off on him not getting the vaccine for school. They tried to bully me into doing something that I do not feel is safe or necessary for my children. I called our family doctor, asked if he would take my kids back into the practice, and he signed off, stating that he understood my reasons and that he was my son and it was my decision. I completely understand your frustration- it is not *any* doctor's place to force us to do anything to our kids.
You may also want to call a local chiropractor or homeopath. Usually they are very anti vaccination and they would be able to direct you to a suitable doctor. Good luck!

I totally support your decision. Btw, the vaccine exemptions available in your state are medical and religious. That is the same with our state and we went with religious. Delaying is a great idea also.

Here is a link to a couple of suggestions:

Broaden your search to include Family Practice Doctors.

And Eliza-- the rest of us Vaccinate OUR kids to protect the preemies like J.'s. She didn't say she wasn't going to vaccinate, just that she wanted to delay!

J.,

A trusted friend recommended this pediatrician to me:

He is not just no-vaccine friendly, he's anti-vaccine. He's also vegetarian and anti-meat. He even signed some kind of doctor's anti-vaccine authorization form for my friend.

We have United Health Care insurance, and he was on their list of providers, but when I called the clinic, they said they stopped taking insurance in February, and they charge $250 for an initial session. On the bright side, he doesn't like unnecessary doctor visits, so you probably won't have to pay this too often.

I hope this helps. If you see him, please post your feedback. We might consider paying out of pocket to see him, and we'd like to know more about him.

J., I was just wondering if you found a pediatrician to treat your child. I am in the same boat with a pre-mature baby who also has down syndrome. I don't want to vaccinate her but I NEED a pediatrician to follow her. Please let me know if you found someone. Thank you!
