Does anyone have recommendations for the above? We'd like to be close to the northern NJ coast, but whatever you can recommend in NJ would be great. We don't really do well roughing it, so average stays to more luxury stays are better. Thanks!

Long Beach Island, esp Beach Haven, has LOTS for family: amusement park and arcades, mini golfs, shopping villages, free concert in the park every wednesday, The Showplace Ice cream parlor, beaches and bays, lighthouse...
I grew up there and my parents own a shop in Bay Village (Beach Haven), called Personality, check them out!
You can rent your own house or stay at a bed and breakfast or hotel or condo on the beach. But renting your own house for a week would be ideal, invite other family members to join you and then you'll have built in babysitting! Lots of nightlife, too!

I love Sea Isle City and I recommend renting a 2 or 3 bedroom condo at the Spinnaker. It is located on the beach, plus there is a heated pool. The first floor of the condo is little shops (pizza, candy, books arcade, clothing etc.). There is a WaWa, boardwalk rides, restraunts and bike rentals within walking distance. They also have entertainment ( movie night for kids, family dance parties etc.). It is a great time!!!

When I was younger we would go to Wildwood, NJ. I know it's south Jersey, but we loved it. The boardwalk is awesome with rides, games, water parks, mini-golf, etc. Restaurants are good, and the beach is extremely clean. I can't necessarily tell you where to stay because we don't stay in the nicest place, but because my family has been going so long, they get a great rate. I know you can rent out condos that have been built in the last 5 years and they look nice on the pictures.

Hi Nadia!
I grew up at the beach in NJ! Long Beach Island is a great place to go w/children. That's where we started! (Beach Haven.) When I was older we split time between Surf City (LBI) and Avalon/Stone Harbor areas (where we stay now w/my kids!). They are further south, but still great. Wild wood might be fun for a day/night trip, but I would not recommend staying there. It's very loud and a party like atmosphere. I can't recommend a specific place to stay as we have always rented a house. It's a good option to look into, or there are a lot of great places to stay. Hope you have fun!

Hi. I highly recommend congress hall in Cape May. It has been beautifully fitted out so would hit your higher end definition but is all great for kids too - there is a small outdoor pool on site and it is straight across from the beach.
