My daughter, who is almost 6, will be getting a Nintendo DS for xmas. I was hoping to get her a couple of games to give her along with it, but I have no idea where to start. I would love some suggestions for some good games to get her. What are some of your kids' favorite games? I need some fun games, yet maybe a little bit educational, that require minimal to no reading skills. Help! I need to get my shopping done!

What can I do next?

Zoie and Cole love Mario Kart and Carnival games and Build-A-Bear. Zoie has some of the ones where you take care of animals or babies (ie: Baby Girl, Catz, etc) and loves those. If you need some more advice, let me know! :)

We started our kids out with agame that had chutes and ladders, memory and candyland. The great thing was it was all on one game. They still play it at. My daughter just got mario cart and our 3 year old car play it with no troubles

One good source of reviews (for movies and books as well as games) is metacritic.com. We go there to check ratings for DS games before we buy, so that we don't end up with duds.

Littlest pet shop are my girls fave. And FYI you can go to game stop and get games at discount and they also give you a trial period for used games, play them if you dont like them bring them back=) We like that very much, who wants to spend $30 on a game your kid doesnt like after a few plays=)

the two best games my 7.5yr old has are Mario Kart and Scribblenauts. The Scribblenauts game requires them to spell words and use their own thinking to get the little guy out of situations and help others. Its really cool, even *I*, the video game hater, enjoy that one.

Super Mario Brothers is also a good one. My friends daughter is 8 and she enjoys the Nintendogs and Imagine Babies games.

I think that's around the time my son got his and I think one of the games he really likes (still plays it and he's 8.5 now), is Nintendogs. There are at least 4 different games by this name, but each one has like 4-5 different breeds of dogs. I think it's fun and cute and doesn't really NEED too much reading skill. That's the only 1 I can think of at the moment. Good Luck with shopping. Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas!
