I have a couple blue ones. They sorta glow blue, and not really light up, but you can see things in the room but not bright. They look like little flat screen tvs, and I bought them at Lowes. Not much money and work great in the hall, and a spare bathroom.

I used the blue night light bulbs (I think GE makes them) in my sons night light. It is extremely dim! And you can use them with any regular night light vs. having to buy a special one.

Yes, my boys have used the "twilight turtle" for 2 years now-http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3813330
Maybe pricey but great for us. It doesn't get hot, so you can even put it in bed with them. Not very bright, in my opinion. And I like that it shuts itself off at some point. My son also used to sleep in all dark just fine and then started complaining about the dark when he was about 2.

We bought our DD a lcd plug-in and just put it on the other side of her room. I think it was $4 at Walmart. It's not very bright at all.

Cloud B Twilight Turtle is a good option. It glows over the whole ceiling, but the amber option is very dim (as long as he is not staring at the turtle itself)

My kids have the cloud b turtle and ladybug. they love them. it projects moon and stars up on the ceiling. my 3 year old keeps hers in bed with her. i love that it goes off after like 45 minutes. i also dont shut their door and keep a regular plug in nightlight in the bathroom right beside their room. that gives off enough light so its not completely dark if they wake up but it is indirect and doesnt shine directly in their rooms.

I recommend the Spoka from Ikea. If you have one nearby, stop by and pick one up. These things are awesome! They are rechargable and soft, and the cycle through different colors. We set it on the darkest blue, and its just right as a nightlight. If he wants, he can carry it to bed with him, or prop it nearby the bed. We call it "Glow Cat". lol

We like the TykeLight..nice little glow in their room, and they can carry it with them if they need to leave the room. As long as we remember to put it on the charger during the day, it works out perfectly for us!

I also always used the type K's Mom was describing. I want to say I got mine at Walmart. They're inexpensive, though a little bit more than the typical ones with a small bulb in them, butt they last forever & no replacement bulb is needed. You can also find them with designs instead of the plain blue.

I got one at Cub foods, its a plug in LCD light that changes colors every few seconds. The brightest color which is blue and red, are not bright at all. The greens and yellows are really dim, and my kids like to watch them to help them get to sleep. I also have a directional LCD light that you can pivot away from the eyes and point it towards a ceiling or pathway so it doesnt shine into the eyes. I like this one for the bathroom and hall way. Got that one at Walmart in the home improvement section.

My son has a night light that's a blue orb that projects planets and stars on the ceiling. I think we got it in the baby section at Target for under $10. It's not bright at all, just a pleasant glow on the ceiling.

My son is a bit older now but he has a fish tank style light (the fish are on a roller so it looks like they are swimming) and a Lava Lamp. They are pretty bright but he doesn't like it too dark.

well this might not help - my son has the opposite problem, he is afraid of the dark. we have a moon that we got from jcpenny that glows in phases, he loves that. it's not very bright but it's something to keep his mind occupied while he goes to sleep. we also have a light we got from walmart that is multi colored, it goes from blue, to green, to red, and he loves that. neither are very bright at ALL but distract him enough that he can fall asleep. (we had the turtle KW mentions as well, it lasted him about 3 years, he loved it)

i have noticed the LCD lights (i think that's what they're called, the ones without bulbs) are SOOO much dimmer. so much so that i chucked them because they didn't serve our purposes. look for those, maybe. good luck!

They make night lights that project stars on the ceiling in four colors. The light turns off in one hour. Yes, some lights are too bright and did keep my son awake.

I used a regular night light for a while with a blue bulb in it, but I kept having to buy and change the bulb. So now I got these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XMWILC/ref=oh_o06_s0... from amazon and they are perfect. They stay on for I think 20 to 30 mins and then turn off. My kids can turn them on if they awaken in the middle of the night, and they virtually never have to be charged. The first one we got, I charged for a few hours before using it and the second they started using right out of the box and that was a few weeks ago and still have not put them on the charger. These are great in that they are not too bright on certain colors which can be changed and they turn off. I can now put my daughter to bed with it off and she knows if she gets scared she can turn it on. My son falls asleep with his on and turns it on again if awakens during the night. they are easy for kids to turn on and off by themselves with one push of a button and they are virtually indestructible as my kids have literally thrown them around, and they are super easy to clean. I would recommend either this or a similar product but if you really want a night light that plugs in, get the blue bulbs. They are much dimmer than a regular bulb. Good luck!

I had no luck with night lights for my 2 1/2 year old son. They were all so bright he would get up and play. What ended up working was the Fisher Price seahorse with a light up belly. It plays about 5 minutes of classical music/sea sounds, then turns off. (Longer than glo-worms) For awhile, he would keep pushing it over and over till he finally fell asleep. But he did stay in his bed. The light almost forms a little circle in the dark that makes it seem even darker outside the circle if that makes any sense. Anyway, I was surprised that this toy worked. He is not a stuffed animal kid at all. During the day he's all cars and trucks, so I thought this might be too babyish at first. But he loves the thing. It's between $15-20, and I definitely advise rechargeable batteries! It is machine washable too.
