Nightime Problem with Diapers

I had a similar problem with my son when he was little, it was almost as if his bladder were bigger than most LOL. I always buy the size diaper that he fits into the smaller weight... so they seem a little big. If that doesn't work you can always double diaper him. My aunt (when I was little) used to cut a hole in the front of one diaper (just through the outside layer so it can absorb into the second), and put a second diaper over it. I've never tried it myself, but it worked for her!

The ONLY thing that worked for my first 2 kids were the Huggies Overnight diapers. They are a little more expensive than regular huggies, but they really did work for us.

I recommend the Target brand diapers, I would say they are very close to Pampers Swaddlers. I also recommend a Mattress Protector (I love Leggett & Platts), just in case you have more leaks.

I agree. Go up one size. You can also try the nightime pampers or the huggies nighttime ones but going a size up in whatever your using should fix it. Just make sure you put it on good.

I actually got to a point where (my kids are hard sleepers) I would go in before I went to sleep and change their diapers at night. I found that they were doing the "big pee" in the first couple of hours and then when I went to bed (around 9) if I changed them, they were drier in the AM.

I use Huggies overnights and I'd say they work 9 out of 10 times.

go up a size & try the pampers in the purple box. they are a little more expensive, but they fit better and hold more.

My lil one is 9 months and has been having this issue since almost the time he started sleeping through the night. I tried over night diapers...bigger sizes....trying to change him right before bed....He would still wake up SOAKED! One thing that I've tried that's worked without fail is using those plastic pants that they used to use for cloth diapers. They DO come in different sizes, though I had to open the package to actually SEE the true sizing. They're a little hard to find (I found one pack at walmart, but when I went back to get more, their weren't any). Babies R Us is also hit and miss. However, what I've been doing (with the two that I still have that fit) is to alternate them and, because they're plastic, you can rinse them in the sink in the a.m. and let them air dry on the towel rack throughout the day. Also, you can wash them in the washer (as I've had to do when his blowout was poop related)...just don't dry them in the dryer (they will crack and/or lose their shape). Just take them out of the washer and then air dry again. Hope this helps.....the only time that this fails me is when I've forgotten to put them on him before bed.

Cloth diapers with hemp inserts. My son has the biggest bladder and the worst blow outs. I decided to try out cloth because I heard that I can add as much insides as needed and it helps with the blow outs.
And its true. I have only had 2 blow outs and that is when my son was on antibiotics and nothing could have stopped those explosions.
Hemp inserts absorb twice as much moisture than just regular diapers and cotton. They are amazing. Thirsties make a prefold that I love. When I get really lazy I put one in my son's disposable diapers and it keeps everything very dry.

I hate the Pampers Baby Dry (they say they're 12 hours but they're just their normal, not even supreme diapers-you'd probably have better luck with their Cruisers!) That said I have been using Huggies Overnights for 4 years (now on my third boy using them.) I have tried them all. Huggies win out. Fisher Price overnights 2nd and Pampers, well, I wouldn't stick my kid in them at night unless you want to have to change their diaper AND wet PJs!

I totally disregard the sizes listed on diaper packages, honestly. Our four month old is only about 15 pounds, but she's been in size 3 diapers since she was almost 12 pounds. Why? Girlfriend is all booty and thighs. Recently her chubby little thigh rolls have multiplied... her rolls have rolls, but just on her thighs, lol. So once we finish the box of 3's, we'll be moving on to 4's.

I would switch to "LUVS". My daughter was leaking around that age (I initially used Pampers) and Luvs worked so much better.

I have the same problem. I changed sizes (went up a size) but that still didnt help.... other then changing in the middle of the night or letting them be wet in A.M. I havent figured anything else out.

Try sizing up. I liked Huggies Overnights and just found out the Fisher Price makes diapers called Happy Nights. Found them at Babies R Us and they worked great too.

When my daughter first started sleeping through the night we had the same issue. We just used the next size diaper and night and that solved the leaking problem. So she was in size 1 during the day and 2 at night. We used Pampers Swaddlers which had the half sizes and those were also great to use at night, so that it wasn't huge on her. Now we use cloth so it's not an issue at all anymore. :)

Huggies worked better for my son ..and up the size..larger diaper for night time diaper...but stick w/ pampers wipes if you're using those.

My son had the same leaking issues at night. Toys R Us has Diaper Booster Pads which work well. Also, I have used depends inserts which I ordered on line. At one point he needed 2 of either the doublers or the inserts but he did stay dry! Good luck!

I had to double diaper with Pamper Swaddlers size 2 and then a 2-3 over it! And I made sure to LOAD her up with Aquaphor beforehand so the wetness wouldn't harm her skin. We actually tried the Huggies overnight and they didn't help at all. First try going up a size - that helped my first daughter. But like I just mentioned, the only thing that helped with my second was double diapering. You can also find diaper inserts at Babies R Us - maybe try putting one of those in the diaper at night.

J. I have just run into the same problem with my 3 month old son. I went to babies r us just today to get the pampers overnights. I hope they work, I am so glad you posted the question because if they don't work I have an idea of what to do next.

I have two boys (3 yrs and 9 months) and we double diaper them at night...usually works like a charm. First diaper is soaked but the one on top is usually dry and I just put that one on once I change them in the morning so no wasted diapers either! Good luck!

Huggies overnight seemed to work best for my son.

For some reason I heard that Huggies works better for boys and Pampers for girls. Try that and definatly a size larger.

We put pull ups OVER the diaper at night. The part where the tapes meet at the front, well that's where the leakage occurs. With the pull up over top, it adds extra protection where the tapes meet and on the sides. Make sure the frills from the inner diaper come outside of the pull up though for extra protection on that part!

-Change diaper right before his bedtime and again right before you go to bed while he is still asleep.
- Go up a size
- Try a different brand name that looks like it thick not thin.
- Go up a size.
I did all of this every night and it finally worked.
The cheap brands and the ones from Sam's club didn't work. The Costco brand was good in a size larger.

Pampers Baby Dry is the discount version of Pampers...try the Pampers Swaddlers/Cruisers or the Huggies overnights...

I know a lot of moms that like the Huggies overnights for leaks...
