Night Time Potty Training - Las Vegas,NV

I have a 3 year old who is still not potty trained at night but has been potty trained during nap time and the day for about a year now. Recently we have put her in panties and have had a few dry nights. However, there are more wet ones than dry ones. She is such a heavy sleeper that it seems like she just sleeps through it. We wake her up, cut off her liquid a few hours before bedtime, etc. I am wondering if I should wait and put her back in diapers/pull ups at night or keep her in panties. She sits in her room and sobs if she wakes up after an accident and is afraid to tell us she had one. We don't punish her and try to encourage her, but it upsets her. Any advice would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

I would put her back in pull ups. Our, just now 4 year old, was trained during the day for MONTHS before night time became successful. I tried panties and the night time change of sheets/jammies were just too much. Once I noticed her having dry pull ups, I asked her if she was ready to try panties again. For a while she said no. I think she was afraid too. FINALLY, she told me SHE was ready and it was like magic! She hasn't wet the bed since then!! Especially since your little one is getting upset. Let her tell you when she's ready. It will make your nights easier for everyone. Good luck!

awe poor thing my nephew was like that too. we cut off fluids at 5 for him. he went to the bathroom right before bed. then we woke him up before we went to bed and he slowly got it from there. she will catch on soon. good luck!

Put her in pull ups for sure. Most kids do not stay dry at night until 5 or 6 years old. My daughter is 5.5 and soaks her pull ups at night. I wouldn't dream of putting her in underwear to be awaken by wetting her bed. She too is a deep sleeper.

All three of my girls (now 15, 11 and 4) were potty trained in the daytime long before they could make it through the night.

The two older ones I kept in pullups longer, and it took longer for them at night than it did my third. But--that doesn't necessarily prove anything. It could be that my third was just ready sooner.

With the older two, I finally found something that worked. (The oldest was about 8 and the youngest 3 when I did this--both still occasionally wetting).

For me the answer turned out to be this great little gadget that runs on batteries. At night, you attach it to their panties with a tiny clip and as soon as they start to wet it sounds an alarm and wakes them up. Because it brings them to a different level of sleep, they instinctively are alerted to hold it until they wake up all the way and can go in the right place! It trains them to recognise the signs during sleep so they start to wake automatically. I'm sure you could find it on the internet--I forget the name of it immediately, but if you email me I'll look for it and send it to you.

It worked for me in less than a week with both, and then I lent it to a friend for her two girls. Totally successful with hers too. Fortunately I didn't need it with my third daughter, because it was broken by then!
