Night Time Diapers - Seymour,TX

I put my son in night time diapers because he tends to completely soil them during the night(have tried both huggies and pampers both a size larger than his regular diaper size). The past few mornings when I go to wake him, he has completely leaked out of the diaper. Should I stop his liquid intake at a certain time before bedtime? He drinks lots of fluids during the day. Any other ideas.

What can I do next?

Hi L.,

I am responding to this late, so I apologize if I'm repeating something someone else already said. Anyways, I used to have the same problem with my now 2yr old boy. I tried everything, including cutting up adult-sized depends waterproof pads (the ones older people with incontinence problems use) and adding them into his overnight diapers. Well, what I found that worked for me were the gerber boy training pants. You can get them at Target and they cost about $6 or7 for a package of two. Get the kind that are cotton on the inside and vinyl on the outside. Those kind are more absorbent. I got several packages in size 4t for my son who weights about 30lbs. I use Huggies overnight (size 6) and a training pant over top of the diaper. This usuallly does the trick even if he has apple juice before bed! :) Also, if you do get these, you can wash them like normal but do NOT put them in the dryer. I did this once and one of them melted..it was a mess! So just let them airdry. If I wash them in the morning and let them airdry all day, they are usually good to use by bedtime. I hope this helps!

Try Doublers, it's a pad you put inside the diaper to help absorb more. I've used them often on plane flights especially when we were flying overnight and I didn't want to worry about leaks.

Put two diapers on him or put on a Huggies Overnight diaper on with some cotton training pants over it. I give my daughter her milk around 7, which is two hours before bed. I change her right before bed, and we don't have any issues anymore.

I put a men's Depend pad in my son's overnight diaper at night. That usually helps.

My daughter did the same thing. My mom told me to get a cloth diaper & put it inside the night diaper. It was the only way she could keep "me" dry at night, lol. A little bulky but it works. Also stop liquids a little earlier. If last one is a 9pm next night try 8:30, then 8pm & so on till you figure out what time is right for your baby. Good Luck!

My son has soaked through the night diapers a few times. If it starts becoming a pattern, I do limit his liquid intake a couple hours before bed. If he gets thirsty, I'll give him a little water, but not a lot. That helps, and he doesn't soak through. I know he gets plenty to drink the rest of the day, so I'm not worried about limiting what he drinks in the evening.

I agree with some of the other suggestions about the extra pads you can get to put int he diapers for added absorbency. I've been doing this for my daughter at night and it works great. I've only been able to find the pads at Babies R Us in the area where all the diapers are. I've also started using the new Fisher Price nighttime diapers (I've only seen them there too) and they also seem to be a good nighttime solution for us.

I use to have the same problem with those exact diapers at night until I discovered Fisher Price diapers, they have both day and night in the box but could only be purchased at babies or toys r us. I love them and they r highly absorbant. No problems since. Good luck :)

My friend has a little boy that has the same problem. They use diaper doublers -- which are basically like pads (they look sort of like kotex pads) that you insert into the diaper at night to absorb the extra. She says they work like a charm. I don't know exactly where she gets them...but here is an example of what I am talking about:

Night time pull ups were the solution in my house.

Why are you using a size larger than the size he wears during the day? For more absorbancy? This might be why it is leaking - because it is not fitting well. My daughter where's the Huggies overnights - same size as during the day. Occassionally, it will leak out, but most of the time it does fine.

Good luck with all the suggestions everyone suggested!

I did not read your responses so please forgive me if I repeat. As a mom of 3 girls, 15, 8, and 5. I dont really have a suggestion as to what to use but I can tell you part of your leaking problem is because the diapers are to big. With all my girls, Huggies products seemed to be the only ones that didnt seem to leak as bad, but the better the diaper fits the better the liquid will be held in.

im surprised that nobody else said this...but try the plastic underwear that they sell at the grocery store in the aisle with underwear! they are "old school" training underwear. put them over the night time diaper and then the liquid stays in there and you dont have to change the sheets daily :)

I used Huggies "overnights" in the purple packaging. They worked the best for bedtime.
