My son is 2 years old and he seems to leak through the Huggies Overnights. I am having to wake up at around 5 am to change is diaper and outfit. I thought we finally found one that might work. He doesn't even drink lots before bed. Any suggestions?

Q. #2
what day time diapers do you find are good and cheap?

My son usually wears the largest size (6 or 7) he is a big boy.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We have tried to limit daytime and night time drinks - at least I have - hubby doesn't get. We are also trying to keep him from drinking bath water! Other than that - the Huggies overnights are still getting saturated and most night leak. I guess these are better than cloth diapers! I am thinking I will just have to accept it as a sacrifice of love for my little guy!
If you have any more breakthrough advise on night time diapers not leaking - contact me PLEASE!

May I suggest Goodnites by huggies. They may be a little big on him depending on how much he weighs, but my son is three and he wears them at night without any leakage problems.

huggies overnights are the best diaper for heavy wetters.

I had no problems with leaks with the overnights.

I have heard of putting in a maxipad in the diaper for extra absorbancy.- they used to make diaper doublers - which were basicly a maxipad that went in to the disposable to absorb more.

I have found that all of the diapers work fine for daytime. It doesnt seem to matter store brand or name brand.

My skinny daughter fits best in pampers.. Huggies dont seem to fit her well.

My son fits a bit better in huggies.

Luvs are almost as good as pampers baby dry.

I also like Kroger store brand diapers.

they all work fine as long as you change them fairly often

Have you tried the next size larger in the nighttime diaper? Or are you at the top of the size chart?
I always liked Target brand diapers for my son as a daytime diaper. They were longer, so he seemed to stay dryer. They were also very reasonably priced (like $7 a pack).

I had the same problem and the only ones I found that would work were the Kroger brand pullups called Overnites or Nitetimes?? They were great! Cheap, no silicon pellets stuck to their wet tushies, no leaks. I swore by them. Give them a try, much much better than Huggies..

I had the best luck with Luvs, a size 6 seems so big for a 2 year old, maybe the diaper is too big around the lets and you dont realize??? If he drinks anything at night, can you put it in his routine earlier so he has a chance to go potty before he goes to bed? If these things dont work, try a plastic diaper cover and see if that works. Good luck!

The only kind of diaper's that didn't leak for my son was Pampers crusiers. Not the cheapest but I would buy them at Sam's Club (in bulk) to save a little bit of cash.

When my daughter did that I tried going up a size in diapers even if she still in the lbs. range. For example, my daughter was Huggies size #3 18-26lbs and we had to go to a size #4 up to 32 lbs when she was only 19 lbs. Go figure that out. I don't understand it. And I never had that problem again!!!

Q #1... I personally have always found Huggies diapers to leak even the over night ones. I have always preferred Pampers or Luvs for over night diapers. However even the best diapers will only make it 8-10 hours through the night so i would lways lay my daughter down then right b4 i went to bed i would change her so she was sure to get through the night dry.

Q#2... I swear by target brand diapers for the day time they are cheap and work really well. Hope this helped. :) Good Luck.

Pampers are the only diapers I used for my son and we never had any problems with them. He occasionally would wet through but I noticed that most of the time he wet through is because his pee pee was pointed wrong. Huggies didn't fit my son well at all and luvs was worse. Try pampers cruisers or the pull ups.

I have had the same problem with my 1 year old. I could not find anything that would hold all of his potty for the night. So I decided to use some Walmart or CVS brand maxi pads and line his night time diaper with it. It has worked wonderfully. I have no more soaked through diapers! In the morning they weigh a ton, but at least he is dry!

We had this same problem with the daughter. She's a big girl and grew out of regular diapers at 2. We use goodnights and have not leak problems at all. We buy the small-medium ones. They fit like 30-65 lbs. and the large ones fit up to 110 lbs! So with those you shouldn't have any fit problems. Also I haven't had any leaky problems especially in the morning which is when we had probs too. She's never leaked thru a goodnight yet and she's 3. I think you get 27 diapers for about $14 so it's not too terrible on price either.

When my son turned 2, the same thing started happening. At first I tried all different kinds of diapers. Finally, I realized what was happening. He was putting his hand in his diaper in his sleep. So, no diaper is going to work with a big gap in the legband because his hand is in there! To solve this, I started putting onesies on so that he couldn't reach in there.

Could they be leaking because they are too big?

HI,
My child is a year old, so the correct size for your child I don't know? For months now I've been using something called a Diaper Doubler. It's like a giant maxi pad as another person wrote. I buy them at Babies R Us, I think it's $2.99 for 30 and they work well. They slide in the diaper at night and the bed is dry in the a.m.
Hope that helps.

#1 limit the evening drinking. This is a BIG help. #2 Wake him before YOU go to bed and have him use the potty. And then put him back to bed.

Question #2
I use the Wal-Mar brand of night time diapers for my 3 year old. We only have leaks if she has had a lot to drink in the evening. You may also want to look at the size 3T/4T "overnight" size. Which is what I had to put my daughter in at age 2. (she's a big girl too.)
