Anyone else experience this - their newborn grunting while sleeping? I don't recall my first child doing this. Is this something that is common for some newborns and they grow out of it?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I'm still curious to hear from more moms but I'm a bit relieved to hear that some have experienced this. My son is 7 weeks and only just recently started the grunting. He sleeps in his own room and we've already turned the monitor off (otherwise, I'd be waking up all the time). I'm really hoping he stops or grows out of this, and although I'm not terribly worried I'll definitely be mentioning it at his 2-month visit to the pediatrician.

My son did this when he was a baby, but his twin sister didn't. Their pediatrician was not concerned at all. She said it was common. Sometimes it was a grunting sound and sometimes it sounded like a noise that sheep make.... baa... baa. He's eight years old now.... and he sleeps quietly:) I can't tell you exactly when it stopped, but it was before his first birthday. Once our ped. said it was normal, I felt relieved and could actually smile when I heard the sounds... especially when he would say... baa.... baa... Enjoy your little one! Oh... they grow up so quickly!

My son did that. He was a grunter... but mostly when he had to poop or fart.

If you are concerned, ask your Pediatrician.
For my son, it is just the way he was. Yes, he grew out of it.
He did not have any other issues medically or otherwise.
