many questions. First off. Do I have to preregister for the "Today Show" . I want to stand in the crowd outside of the studio but Im not sure if I can just walk up there or if I have to have tickets.. Secondly, we only have 2 full days there and most of Sunday til mid afternoon. what is the best way to go about seeing as much as possible? we are flying so we wont have a car ( which is a good thing..LOL).. I need ideas that make sense. Thanks for your help. we are going first week in August.

I would definitely take one of the double decker tour buses. They make sure that you see every important thing to see and they give you so much inofmrtion about everything. You can get on and off wherever-they have many that make continuous loops. I would start with the empire state building-many seemed to originate there. Get there super early though to beat the crowds. Same with the Statue of Liberty. There were long lines for both.

You want to take one of those double decker bus tours and make sure you hit central park. It can be very hot (exhausting) in NY in the summer so plan a lot of indoor things, not really strolling around except in the park. Unless you are a super fan, I would skip the Today Show considering you will be there for such a short time. Have you seen Phantom of the Opera? That is my favorite broadway show. It is also fun to eat in Little Italy on Mulberry St. Skip the knock off purses...tacky.

When my daughter and I went on a mom/daughter trip, we got a cab from the airport to our hotel.... the Waldorf. You must go through the Waldorf if you don't stay there. It is awesome!

The conceirge told us the tour buses were a great way to see everything because you can get off/on as needed. We bought tickets good for the weekend and those buses were our transportation.... we also walked a LOT. We went to Ground Zero, Battery Park, caught the ferry to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, China town, Little Italy, EVERYWHERE on these buses. It was great.

Make sure you see a Broadway show, go through Central Park on a carriage ride. We ate at Tavern on the Green which is now closed but was so cool.

I know nothing about the Today Show because we had no interest in that.

Enjoy yourself, we had a blast and made wonderful memories!

New York is sooo much fun!! where are you staying???

When I went in November 2010 - we stayed at the Waldorf Astoria. It's easy to get a cab there - the door men were great!!

For Good Morning America and the Today show - you HAVE to get up before light and go stand in line. If you know someone - you can get into the studio!!! I was lucky - I know Tony Perkins - well - not "personally" he was in the Outback (he lives here in DC) but when he was on GMA - he came to the Outback with his wife and family - he's VERY NICE - and gave me his business card...so we took advantage. Any way - now that he's in DC - we see each other at the store and where we get our hair cut! LOL!!!

The best way to sight see is walk or take the subway. You can take a cab. It will be expensive - but if you don't want to walk in the heat - take a cab! There is MUCH to do and see!!!

Times Square is a blast!! The Toys R Us has a Ferris Wheel IN the store that you can ride!!!

On Broadway there is a dinner where the waiters and waitresses sing - it's cool!! it's on the corner of Broadway and oohhhh I can't think of it - sorry but you will see it when you walk down Broadway.

HAVE A BLAST!!!

No you don't pre register - you wait on line early in the morning. VERY EARLY depending on who the guest is. IE if it is a day Justin Bieber is there, ay yay yay.

Depends on what you and your family like to do. There is Canal Street, Chinatown where you can buy knock off handbags. There's little Italy. There's the South Street Seaport and ground zero. These are all downtown Manhattan type of things.

Uptown Manhattan you have the Cloisters, you have Central Park. You can rent boats there relatively inexpensively and row on the lake for an hour, and eat at the boathouse.

You can go to the Museum of Natural History, the Met, MoMa, the Guggenheim. Are you museum people?

Top of the Rock is cool. You can also tour NBC studios. There's the Statue of Liberty (has to be booked in advance).

There's the Staten Island Ferry which is free and a nice ride.

There's the Coney Island boardwalk but now you're out of the city and into Brooklyn.

And on and on.

It depends on your likes and interests and your kids likes and interests and your budget.

If you love Italian food, I highly recommend eating at Carmines. It is "touristy" but awesome and fun.

I would see a broadway show.

You can also go do trapeze over by the river. I forget the website for it.

PM me if you want, and give me more of an idea of things you're into and ages of your kids, and I would suggest some top things.
