New York Family Seeking Doctors - Pediatrician and OBGYN

Hello all,
We are relocating back to Manhattan (UWS) and are looking for referrals for an attentive, personable, vaccine-friendly pediatrician / pediatric practice. We have PPO insurance and are willing to be part of a semi-private practice, as we've had a great experience with that in California. My son is 17 months and we plan to have another baby in coming year. We'll be living on the UWS temporarily before deciding on a permanent neighborhood, so I'm open to any practice in Manhattan.

I would also love referrals to a great female OBGYN who is both at the cutting edge of prenatal care and birth-friendly, i.e. open to natural birth/reduced meds birth.

Thanks for your referrals! I am so appreciative of your advice and time.
C.

My daughter's doc is Cary Berwald. She is on west 77th Street between CPW and Columbus.
It is a small practice and they are all very nice. We adopted our daughter from Ethiopia and other than her initial vaccines in her country, we have not done anything further. Dr. Berwald does not totally agree but is very open to what I have told her and given her to read.

Good luck,
G. (UWS< NYC

As far as the OBGYN, i have to say how much i LOVE LOVE LOVE mine! The OBGYN westside practice at 620 Columbus Ave ###-###-####) delivers at Mt Sinai, which is in my opinion the best maternity ward in the city. And i add that i just was discharged from there last Thursday after having my second last Tuesday.
The hospital staff is amazing and they are all very pro-breastfeeding (they have a great lactition consultant). Plus they were totally supportive of my natural childbirth, which is something that can be hard to find in the city. There is no "get 'em in, get 'em out" mentality at Mt Sinai.
As far as my Dr, Michelle Morgan is amazing. She has been my GYN for almost 10 years. She was there for early labor with my oldest and delivered my second completly last week. I could not ask for a more supportive partner. The other Drs in the practice are equally great. They are real people and i have always felt that i was treated as a person not as a medical chart. Maternity care is so important and this practice makes me want to keep on havong children!!!
Good luck with your move!

Hi! I have a great pediatrician. She is everything you want plus. I went through a lot of pediatricians before I found here. She is located in NYC at Tribeca Pediatrics. Here name is Maja Castillo, MD. She will be in their midtown office starting 9.16. I live in NJ and she was in a Oradell, NJ practice instead of seeing another pediatrician there I decided to follow her on her move and I live in NJ. I delayed my boy's vaccination as long as I could and we are on a delayed vaccine schedule. I am a former Manhattanite and go to the city with my 13 month in tow twice a month on our day trips hope to make it more often.

About an ob/gyn, I know a practice that was feature on Channel 7 news they are affiliated with St. Vincent's. They are Village Obstetrics. I will see them next time as I had to have an emergency c-section when I wanted a home birth so I definitely want a v-back and they are all for that.

I hope this is helpful. If you want to meet up for a play date in the city, let me know. Welcome back.

Amy Demattia (and the entire practice) at Westside Pediatrics are wondeful. Highly recommend them. Very knowledgeable, warm, attentive, and open to all sorts of "parent types".

Our pediatrician is Gotham Pediatrics, 59 W. 12th St. in Manhattan; phone: ###-###-####. We see Dr. Felix but Dr. Gonzales is great, too. My obgyn is Central Park OB/GYN on 59th St between 6th and 7th avenues. it's a group practice, so when delivering you get whoever is on call (one of two doctors); Dr. Mindy Kwan delivered my first son in Nov. 2007 and Dr. Samuel Rafalin delivered my second son in Feb. 2009. Both doctors were great, and I went drug-free with both deliveries. I highly recommend both practices. They've been wonderful for my family!
